Just in : Liverpool are ‘in the queue’ of signing  a world class 29-year-old  player who ‘could have joined two years ago’.

According to reports, Liverpool and West Ham United are interested in Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski.

Zielinski appeared in 37 Serie A matches last season as Naples won their first league title since 1990.

After contributing significantly to Napoli’s domestic success in 2022/23, the 29-year-old has remained an important player under new manager Rudi Garcia.

The Italian club has had a difficult start to the season, but Zielinski has six goal contributions in 14 matches across all competitions.

The Polish international will be in Naples for eight years in 2024, but his contract will expire next summer.

This has piqued the interest of a few clubs across Europe, including Premier League rivals Liverpool and West Ham.

Gianluca Di Carlo, an Italian agent, revealed this week that Zielinski could have joined the Reds in 2021.

“Given that the Zielinski deal appears to be easier to do for free in June than in January by paying him for the Italian clubs,” Di Carlo said.

“However, we are discussing a player who could have joined Liverpool two years ago.” He matured perfectly because he followed the right path: from Poland to Udinese, then to Empoli, and finally to Napoli, where he arrived after becoming important in Friuli.

“He is a classy player about whom there is not much to say: that he plays at Napoli, Juventus, Inter or Milan, he is strong.”

West Ham and Liverpool are reportedly ‘in the queue’ to sign Zielinski on a free transfer, according to Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness).

The plot revolves around Juventus’ search for a new midfielder, with both Paul Pogba and Nicolo Fagioli suspended.

Zielinski is one of the possible January signings, but he can negotiate pre-contracts with clubs beginning on January 1, 2024.

To avoid losing the Polish midfielder for nothing at the end of the season, Napoli could sell him for a small fee.

If Zielinski does leave next summer, he will be considered a “illustrious free transfer,” with Liverpool and West Ham joining Inter in the “queue.”

There have been numerous reports claiming that West Ham are interested, so David Moyes’ side may be one to keep an eye on.
