Just in: ‘Lack of quality’ – pundit gives scathing verdict on Arsenal’s and Liverpool’s title chances

Former midfielder turned pundit Roy Keane believes Liverpool and Arsenal will be unable to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title this season.

After narrowly missing out on the league title last season, Arsenal decided to spend big and strengthen their squad last summer in order to close the gap on Pep Guardiola’s side.

Arsenal has had a promising start to the season, sitting third in the table with 27 points from 12 games, one point behind league leaders Manchester City.

Liverpool, on the other hand, decided to revamp their engine room last summer after a disastrous campaign the previous season in order to challenge on all fronts this season. They have also had a strong start to the season, accumulating the same number of points as Arsenal but currently sit second in the league due to a better goal difference.

As a result, early indications suggest that Arsenal and Liverpool will be able to mount a title challenge this season and challenge the Citizens. Gary Neville suggested on The Overlap that Arsenal could win the Premier League this season, and that Liverpool could also be contenders.

However, Keane responded by saying that there is a ‘lack of quality’ in the league behind Man City, and he believes Pep Guardiola’s men will retain their title this season.

Liverpool and Arsenal are unlikely to pose a threat to City.
Other teams, such as Arsenal and Liverpool, haven’t been able to perform at their peak this season, and they need to get their act together quickly if they want to challenge for the title this season, according to the pundit.

Keane stated:

“I think the standard of the Premier League hasn’t been great the last month or two. I think some of the goals we are watching at weekends are so poor, the lack of quality.

“Man City are excellent, there’s no doubt about it. But I think the other teams [such as Arsenal and Liverpool] need to sort themselves out, I really do. I still can’t see beyond City, even if they have some sort of blip, they are strong enough.”

Man City has been excellent this season, but they have shown that they have weaknesses in their team. However, they tend to improve as the season progresses, making it extremely difficult for Liverpool or Arsenal to keep up with Man City’s pace. However, if either of those clubs wins the title this season, they will be forced to do so.
