The broadcasters claim [17 July] that the Hammers are keen on signing the England international and it could cost them up
to £30million to secure his services.
The London club are looking to sign new midfielders after the British record sale of Declan Rice to Arsenal.
“Talks are already well advanced with Gallagher. The fee would be between 25 and 35 million euros,” said Sky journalist
Florian Plettenberg.
Worth signing?
Gallagher is an all-action midfielder who could be an important signing along with someone who can play the holding role.
The Englishman is good at playing the quick one-twos and using his energy to run box to box and prove to be a goal-scoring
threat.
He can also be an important player to start the press and can often be the most advanced midfield player which is something
David Moyes would want.
Lucas Paqueta prefers to operate in the free eight role and with Gallagher he will have the assurance that someone can cover
for him as well.
The 23-year-old is also tidy on the ball and can give this Hammers midfield what it’s missing ahead of the new season.
It remains to be seen if they do end up making a bid for him and whatever they decide, they must do it soon as pre-season is
already up and running.

West Ham United transfer news as Newcastle intensify pursuit of Lucas Paquet
The reliable website on all things London Stadium wrote [15 July] that the Brazilian’s new agent may engineer a move to St
James’ Park.
He recently changed his agent and will now be represented by TFM Agency which is 50% owned by Roc Nation, founded by
rapper Jay-Z.
Money talks
There could be a sizeable offer that Newcastle make to Paqueta which he feels is too hard to turn down.
He only moved to the London Stadium last summer and does not have the same kind of loyalty a player who’s been there for
years would.
At the end of the day, he will look out for his better interests and will see that a club in the Champions League are willing to
pay big money for him.
David Moyes will certainly not want two of his best midfielders leaving the club in the same transfer window.
He’s already dealing with the absence of Declan Rice who is now officially a West Ham player and replacing him will be a
tough task in itself.
Thus, the loss of Paqueta may be too much and the hierarchy will pull out all stops in order to keep him at the club for
another year.
