Burnley allegedly plans to sign a new striker during the summer transfer window after returning to the
Premier League.
The Clarets have reportedly shown interest in a few strikers, notably Sheraldo Becker of Union Berlin
and Boulaye Dia of Salernitana.
David Okereke of the US Cremonese team has been added to Burnley’s list of targets. TuttoMercatoWeb
claims that the English club “likes” the 25-year-old and has “targeted” him to strengthen their assault for
the upcoming season.
Despite having a contract with them through 2025, the Italian club was demoted from Serie A last
season, which, according to the article, makes it “difficult” for the star to extend his stay.
Vincent Kompany should be pleased with this, and it will support any real effort. The sum required to
persuade Cremonese to approve the player’s sale is not mentioned by TMW.
Okereke was primarily employed as a center forward last season, though he also saw time on the wings.
In 38 games, he made nine goals and recorded three assists.

Burnley Call Off Move for Soumaïla Coulibaly
A potential transfer for Soumaïla Coulibaly to Burnley has fallen through. Despite the completion of a
medical check and most of the paperwork, Coulibaly did not get the move he was looking for.
Dortmund and Burnley had seemingly agreed to a loan-to-buy, which would have earned Dortmund €18
million due to a purchase obligation at the end of the loan. According to reports, this purchase obligation
was not completely worked out and would eventually lead to the collapse of the move.
Despite being agreed upon by Burnley and BVB, the Soumaila Coulibaly transaction is on the danger of
failing.
At Burnley, Coulibaly underwent testing for his health.
However, due to further disagreements between the clubs over the necessary buy clause, the transaction
is currently off.

Coulibaly is currently back at BVB and training with the first team, but his ambition is to play. It seems
the front office is happy to broker a permanent separation between themselves and the player, and it will
likely arrive before the summer’s end.
Coulibaly joins a growing list of failed transfers for BVB in the summer of 2023. The trend is becoming
worrisome, especially as the summer trip to the USA grows closer. Preseason tournaments are where
new players gel with their teammates, and if BVB waits much longer, that opportunity will be wasted.
