Just In: Boston Celtics tie down former All-Star Big Man to a bumper $60m, two-year Deal after trade from Washington.

The club withheld financial details, but the 2017–18 All-Star’s reps told ESPN that the two–year agreement is worth $60

million. The 2024–25 season will mark the start of the extension.

In a three-team trade last month, the Celtics acquired Porzingis from the Washington Wizards, sending guard Marcus Smart

to Memphis in the process.

Porzingis opted into the $36million player option on his contract for the upcoming season to get the trade done.

Porzingis, who turns 28 in August, averaged a career-high 23.2 points per game last season for the Wizards.

He has averaged 19.6 points and 7.9 rebounds in seven seasons with the New York Knicks (2015-18), Dallas Mavericks

(2019-22) and Wizards.

The Celtics will hope he plays a starring role for the team next season, alongside All-Star teammates Jayson Tatum and

Jaylen Brown.

Speaking at a recent press conference in the wake of his arrival, he told reporters: ‘I think these are the best years for a

basketball player.

‘You are physically there, and mentally, you are getting to a different level. I think the work paid off for me. I looked at my

game, I looked at how I could be more efficient and just really analyzed myself, and it paid off last season, all the work I put

in off the court to stay healthy.

‘My body is maturing, and getting to that age helped, and I believe I have some great, high-level years ahead of me.’

Boston Celtics could reap rewards of All-NBA blockbuster

Which teams would the Boston Celtics help facilitate a Pascal Siakam trade?

Robb doesn’t specifically name-drop any teams that may be pursuing the former All-NBA forward. However, according

to NBA Insider Marc Stein, two teams to watch in the hunt for Siakam are the Indiana Pacers and Atlanta Hawks.

“The Indiana Pacers, league sources say, have emerged as a legitimate trade contender for Siakam,” Stein reported on July

10. “The Atlanta Hawks, of course, have been pursuing Siakam since last month’s draft. It’s believed that there are other

suitors whose identities have yet to be confirmed.”

It’s unclear what the packages would be in either scenario, but the Boston Celtics could get something worthwhile if they get

involved. It just depends on how involved they want to get.

In the case that they throw Pritchard into the deal, they’d probably manage to get a few second-round picks back in

return. Stevens recently spoke about the value of those picks, saying that they do hold some weight around the league.
