It’s Incredible: 5 Coaches Coco Gauff Could Hire Based on Their Proven Track Records after parting ways with Brad Gilbert are…

Coco Gauff’s recent split with Brad Gilbert after her U.S. Open title defense has tennis fans buzzing about who her next coach could be. As one of the brightest young stars in the sport, Gauff’s next coaching choice could shape the future of her career. Here are five coaches she could consider based on their experience, tactics, and success with top players.

1. Patrick Mouratoglou

  • Why He’s a Fit: Mouratoglou is a coaching legend, known primarily for his work with Serena Williams, helping her capture multiple Grand Slam titles. He understands how to coach young stars and has experience mentoring players under immense pressure. Mouratoglou’s tactical brilliance and calming presence could be a perfect combination for Gauff as she strives to take her game to the next level.
  • Track Record: In addition to coaching Serena, Mouratoglou has worked with rising stars like Stefanos Tsitsipas and has a knack for getting the best out of his players in major tournaments.

2. Darren Cahill

  • Why He’s a Fit: Cahill’s expertise with top players like Simona Halep and Andre Agassi makes him one of the most respected coaches on tour. His approach focuses on technical refinement and mental toughness, qualities that could help Gauff as she navigates her way through the challenges of maintaining consistency at the highest level.
  • Track Record: Cahill led Halep to her first Grand Slam title and is known for fostering a strong work ethic in his players, qualities that could benefit Gauff immensely.

3. Sascha Bajin

  • Why He’s a Fit: Bajin has a remarkable history of working with elite women’s players, including Naomi Osaka, whom he coached to two Grand Slam titles. He’s great at developing mental resilience and could be an excellent mentor for Gauff, who is still fine-tuning her tactical awareness and mental approach to the game.
  • Track Record: Bajin helped Osaka transform into a Grand Slam champion and has also worked with Serena Williams as a hitting partner. His experience with powerful baseline players could match well with Gauff’s aggressive style.

4. Wim Fissette

  • Why He’s a Fit: Fissette’s experience working with a range of top WTA players, including Angelique Kerber and Victoria Azarenka, makes him a strong contender. He has a keen eye for detail and helps his players adapt to high-pressure moments. With Gauff’s young career, Fissette could provide the strategic edge to help her make the leap to consistent Grand Slam success.
  • Track Record: Fissette coached Kerber to a Wimbledon title and helped guide Azarenka back to the top of her game, showing his ability to rejuvenate and elevate players’ careers.

5. Nick Kyrgios (A Wild Card)

  • Why He’s a Fit: While Kyrgios is more known for his unpredictability on the court, his tennis IQ and tactical knowledge are often overlooked. If Gauff is looking for a fresh, outside-the-box approach, Kyrgios’ unorthodox style could inject a sense of fun and creativity into her game. Although a risky choice, it could be the shake-up she needs to break through at the biggest stages.
  • Track Record: Kyrgios has no formal coaching experience, but his understanding of the game and ability to disrupt opponents might help Gauff approach matches from a different perspective.

Conclusion

As Coco Gauff embarks on the next chapter of her career, choosing the right coach will be crucial. Whether she opts for an experienced hand like Cahill or Mouratoglou, or takes a more unconventional route with someone like Kyrgios, Gauff’s decision could determine how quickly she returns to the winner’s circle. With so much potential and drive, the right coach could help her unlock new levels of success and keep her among the top contenders in women’s tennis.

John McEnroe has torn into Coco Gauff – suggesting her “commercials” and brand deals could be affecting her tennis performance.

The former US Open champion was knocked out in the fourth round of the competition this year, showing clear signs of frustration as she made 19 double faults and a total of 60 unforced errors in the match against Emma Navarro. This followed a disappointing performance during the Paris Olympics this summer where she reached the third round before crashing out against Donna Vekic.

Before her impressive run last summer, she began working with Pere Riba and Brad Gilbert – a decision that proved beneficial for the 20-year-old American. However, Riba has since left the team, reports the Express.

“I don’t know about what is going on in her team, but I suspect there will be changes, that’s my guess,” McEnroe commented. “When she made the change last year and brought in Brad, it spurred her on and she had this great run in the hard court season.”

He added: “Now it’s a year later and I don’t know what has happened. She is still having issues with her serve, she is still having issues with her forehand.”

The retired former world No. 1 also dismissed suggestions that Gauff could easily follow in Serena Williams’ footsteps. He explained: “She seems to be more outwardly frustrated on the court and venting more than I’ve seen before. I guess that’s just the pressure of expectations.

The legend weighed in on Gauff’s recent struggles, suggesting her off-court commitments such as lucrative endorsements could be impacting her performance. He said: “I’ve noticed she has been on a lot of commercials as well, so they’ve got to balance that with giving her time to work on her game and feel super confident again.”

Gauff stated how she is aware of the need to focus on her game following her US Open defeat to Emma Navarro, saying: “I don’t know what my schedule will look like at the end of this year. I feel like I want to spend a good training block. I hadn’t had that since maybe before the clay season started.”

She added: Yeah, I think we’ll see how Asia goes, and we’ll see – obviously if I qualify [for the WTA Finals], I’ll play. I think for me in the long-term I definitely want to get a good training block, and I guess we’ll see how many tournaments I play for the rest of the year.”
