High possibility Liverpool will bid for an incredible £52m player in January, Jurgen Klopp has already made all the possible moves

In the January transfer window, Liverpool could make a bid for Sporting Lisbon central defender Goncalo Inacio.

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool would have to pay a high price for the defender.

So, what has been reported about Liverpool and Goncalo Inacio? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, according to TEAMtalk, Liverpool are interested in signing Goncalo Inacio from Sporting Lisbon in the January transfer window.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is keen on adding a defender to his side to partner Virgil van Dijk, and Inacio is back on their radar.

Van Dijk tried and failed to convince his Netherlands international teammate Micky van de Ven to join Liverpool in the summer of 2023. He has been a revelation at Tottenham Hotspur this season.

Liverpool wanted to sign Inacio in the summer of 2023 and remain keen on him.

TEAMtalk has claimed that Liverpool have scouted the defender for over two years now and “the possibility of a January move for him is high”.

The report has noted that Liverpool have to pay the Portugal international centre-back’s release clause of £52 million to get a deal done with Sporting.

Liverpool should pay the £52m needed for Goncalo Inacio

In my opinion, if Liverpool are determined to sign a centre-back and manager Jurgen Klopp thinks that Goncalo Inacio is the player for him, then FSG should get a deal done.

I do not think that the Reds should waste any time trying to bring the price down. Just trigger the 22-year-old’s release clause and get the deal done without any fuss.

Liverpool have to trust their scouting department. If after following Inacio for over two years, the recruitment team believes that he is ready to make the move to Anfield, then the board should sanction the deal.

Inacio has made 10 starts and one substitute appearance in the Portuguese league this season. The defender has also played four times in the UEFA Europa League for Sporting this campaign.

Meanwhile, journalist Dean Jones has said that Liverpool have full faith in Darwin Nunez and believe that he will turn out to be a top striker.

Jones told GiveMeSport: “Keep putting him out there, even if he’s missing chances, being like ‘you’re only missing that chance because you’re still getting in the right places and the goals will come’.

“I think that Nunez in time is starting to learn that and while the level of performance is still not completely consistent, there is full belief that Nunez is going to turn into a 30-goal striker at Liverpool. And I think that this season, we’re starting to see the makings of that.”
