‘He’ll be fresh,’ says pundit, who believes the 21-year-old incredible player is ‘ideal’ to start Liverpool’s match against Manchester City.

Danny Murphy believes Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch will start against Manchester City.

Ryan Gravenberch would be ideal to start in midfield for Liverpool against Manchester City this weekend.

That is according to Danny Murphy, a pundit who spoke to the Daily Mail.

The final international break of 2023 will end in a few days, and Premier League action will once again take center stage.

The Premier League returns with a bang on Saturday, with Liverpool hosting Manchester United at lunchtime.

Ryan Gravenberch is expected to start for Liverpool, according to Danny Murphy.
Jurgen Klopp will be irritated that Liverpool is once again playing in the early kick-off following an international break.

This will be an intriguing match, with Liverpool showing real signs of a Premier League title challenge this season.

Beating City would really demonstrate those credentials, and Pep Guardiola’s men haven’t been in top form of late, so Liverpool may see an opportunity to claim a big win.

Danny Murphy, a pundit and former Liverpool midfielder, has told the Daily Mail that he believes Liverpool can learn from Chelsea.

When the Blues were not in possession, they used Cole Palmer infield to try to neutralize City midfielder Rodri.

Murphy believes Liverpool can do something similar, naming midfielder Ryan Gravenberch as ‘ideal’ for the job of pushing forward from midfield to make runs around Rodri.

Murphy believes Gravenberch’s forward runs can really trouble Rodri and that he will be ‘fresh’ after missing international duty.

“They must try to neutralize Rodri’s influence, who has not lost a match for his club since February (a personal run of 38 matches).” Last weekend, Chelsea found a way. “Cole Palmer switched from right wing to No10 for the second half, and it gave the Spaniard a headache,” Murphy said.

“Leeds could do something similar.” Either by instructing one of their midfielders, such as Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, or Cody Gakpo, to push up and make runs in behind Rodri, or by instructing one of their wide players to drop inside and give the City linchpin something to think about.”

“Gravenberch would be ideal. He has the athleticism to get into the box and cause Rodri a problem. And having had a rest in international week, he’ll be fresh,” he added.

This week, Gravenberch must demonstrate his fitness.
Gravenberch has been showing promising signs in the Liverpool midfield, but a starting spot against City is far from guaranteed.

The Dutchman was ruled out of the win over Brentford before the international break due to a knee injury.

Gravenberch is expected to return for this weekend’s game, with This Is Anfield reporting that his injury should heal in time.

Klopp will then have to decide whether Gravenberch is fit enough to start, as he can’t afford to take any chances in such a big game.

If Gravenberch is fit and ready to go, we expect him to start and potentially push up to challenge Rodri in the final third with direct runs into the box and high pressing.
