Journalist Jorge Nicola has revealed what he has learned about Liverpool and Lucas Beraldo from sources in Brazil.
Liverpool have recently been linked with Lucas Beraldo, a 19-year-old Brazilian centre-back who is currently impressing for Sao Paolo. And it appears that the player will be available in January.
After speaking with people close to the situation in Brazil, journalist Jorge Nicola provided an update. He’s discussed the Reds’ alleged interest with both the club’s president and people close to the player, but the results have been mixed.
Liverpool appear to have taken no action in relation to this deal, as Fabrizio Romano recently stated. That doesn’t rule out the possibility of a relocation.
Nicola claims on YouTube that, despite the Reds’ lack of contact, Beraldo is likely to leave in January. The Brazilian season lasts a calendar year, so it is the ‘off-season’ for clubs.
Furthermore, the teenager is unlikely to be inexpensive. According to the claim, a fee of around £20 million is highly unlikely because it would be a record for a defender from the Brazilian league.
The possibility of a deal or Beraldo is thus very real. But that doesn’t mean Liverpool fans should get too excited.
Trivela, too, makes it clear that the Reds have made no contact with Beraldo. While they may have scouted the player, they scout a lot of players and do not make a move for every one of them.
There have been reports linking them to Goncalo Inacio of Sporting, for example, and we imagine Beraldo would be a backup option if more proven players are unavailable.
The Brazilian is a name to keep an eye on, but he still has a long way to go.
