Good news: Liverpool have gotten huge advantage over Real Madrid in their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen’s star.

According to one report, Liverpool are interested in Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong.

The 22-year-old has been a regular for Xabi Alonso’s team in 2023/24, helping them to the top of the Bundesliga after 11 games, with three goals and five assists.

Frimpong, a former Celtic player who came through Manchester City’s youth system, made his senior debut for the Netherlands this year. He had previously represented England and Ghana at the international level.

According to Depor, his impressive rise has piqued the interest of a number of top European clubs, including Liverpool.

According to the report, both the Reds and Chelsea have the full back on their wish lists for next summer. However, Real Madrid, who considered a move during the summer transfer window as they sought a long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal, could pose a threat to the English clubs.

According to reports, Alonso will ask club president Florentino Perez to reconsider a move for Frimpong if he is to succeed Carlo Ancelotti at the Santiago Bernabeu next season. However, there is concern that Real Madrid will be stymied by the Premier League’s financial might.

According to Depor, Perez may be unwilling to pay more than €35 million (£30 million) to secure Frimpong, a fee that is unlikely to deter the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea.

Frimpong could be viewed as a long-term option at right back for Liverpool if Trent Alexander-Arnold is moved into a more permanent midfield role. However, if the plan is to keep the vice-captain in a hybrid

Anfield Watch previously reported that the Reds have been keeping an eye on versatile midfield and defense options such as Yukinari Sugawara (AZ) and Morten Frendrup (Genoa).

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s top priority in 2024 will be to sign a left-sided center back.
