‘From what I knew’: Brendan Rodgers says £6m star Liverpool sold now a ‘really gifted’ player

Luis Alberto, a former player for Liverpool, has received great praise from Celtics manager Brendan Rodgers.

Luis Alberto, who recently acknowledged that he believed he was a “phenomenon” at Liverpool, will face his old manager when Celtic and Lazio square off in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

When Brendan Rodgers was manager of Liverpool from 2013 to 2016, the 31-year-old wore the team’s colors.

Luis Alberto was young at the time, as the former Liverpool manager hinted, but he now believes he is a “gifted footballer,” as he stated in his news conference.

The Spanish player made just 12 appearances for Anfield, including multiple loan stints in La Liga, before agreeing to a £6 million move to Lazio (Sky Sports).

Since then, the technically skilled midfield player hasn’t looked back, serving as a pillar for the squad and leading them to a second-place finish the previous campaign.

On Luis Alberto, Brendan Rodgers
According to Rodgers, “Lazio plays 4-3-3; the midfield is flexible.”

“Luis Alberto, who I know a great deal, is a technically gifted player with experience from when I knew him at Liverpool as a 20-year-old.”

Liverpool and Celtic in Europe
As both teams enter the latter stages of the Champions League and Europa League fixtures, they are faced with two very different scenarios.

With just one point, Celtic must win their next two games—including tonight’s against Lazio—in order to have any hope of qualifying for the Europa League.

And should they participate in that competition, it will only be a matter of handling a Liverpool club that is the overwhelming favorite to win it all.

Everyone can see Liverpool’s track record in Europe under Jurgen Klopp, but one thing is certain—he makes it to the finals, and it appears that he will do it once more.
