Richards Keys blames Jurgen Klopp after Kostas Tsimikas suffers broken collarbone vs Arsenal
Richards Keys has appeared to blame Jurgen Klopp for Kostas Tsimikas’ injury after he was tackled by Bukayo Saka.
On Saturday evening, Liverpool welcomed Arsenal to Anfield for a top-of-the-table clash in the Premier League.
The Gunners took the lead inside five minutes thanks to a header from Gabriel Magalhaes before Mohamed Salah levelled the score just before the half-hour mark.
Shortly after Salah’s goal, the home team were dealt an injury blow after Tsimikas and Saka came together right in front of Klopp.
The Liverpool full-back collided with his manager and had to be substituted due to a suspected broken collarbone.
Taking to social media to express his opinion on the incident, Keys appeared to place the blame on Klopp.
He wrote: “It’s an irony that it’s Klopp – with Arteta in the other technical area – but that’s exactly why a coach being too close to the playing area is dangerous.”
Speaking on beIN Sports, Keys added: “This is why coaches too near the playing surface – and I’ve said it since we identified Arteta, and it’s ironic he’s in the other technical area, as a serial offender – this is what can happen.
“He is in his technical area but when coaches step outside of them, and they’re too close, that is always going to be a danger.”
Speaking after the match, Klopp said: “He [Tsimikas] broke his collarbone at least. That’s really bad for us. I would happily give my collarbone to Kostas so he could be fit again.
“I was completely fine. Of course, that’s not cool when it’s directly in front of you and you’re kind of involved. I wasn’t even sure if I fell on him or how it happened. And yeah these things should not happen.”
Liverpool will be back in Premier League action on Boxing Day when they take on newly-promoted Burnley at Turf Moor.

Jurgen Klopp ‘injures’ his own player against Arsenal, he was forced off
The Reds pulled level against Arsenal in the top of the table clash at Anfield, with Mo Salah cancelling out Gabriel’s early opener.
But Liverpool were forced into a first half change not long after equalising.
Bukayo Saka sent Kostas Tsimikas flying with a shoulder challenge on the right flank and the Greece international ended up tumbling into Klopp.
The German lost his footing and found himself on the turf.
It was bad news for Tsimikas, however. After a nasty landing, he appeared to be in discomfort with his collarbone and was replaced by Joe Gomez.
Unsurprisingly, social media was awash with reaction over the rare and bizarre incident.
One fan joked: “How Tsimikas didn’t get a yellow card for that tackle on Klopp is a joke.”
A second said: “VAR is such a disgrace that I fully expect Tsimikas to be sent-off for that tackle on Klopp.”
A third added: “Tsimikas really took down Klopp in a run after Saka pushed him off the field with his arm. Kostas still on the ground but Klopp is back up.”
Another user wrote: “Tsimikas knocked klopp down like a bowling pin.”
A fifth commented: “Klopp has just been flattened by Tsimikas. What have I just witnessed.”
Tsimikas has been filling it out left-back following a shoulder injury suffered by Andy Robertson, who is now expected to be back in the New Year after being sidelined since October.
“We need to be patient a little bit, we need to be patient a little bit longer,” he said in his pre-match presser.
“But he’s fine. He can do all the physical work already, which annoys him quite a lot because he’s not allowed to do ball training. Little bit passing maybe, but not properly.
“But physically, when he is ready to go, allowed to go shoulder-wise, I think it is a short time until he will be back. We all hope it will be in January but I don’t know.”

Bukayo Saka issues apology to Liverpool star for ‘hard to swallow’ incident in Arsenal draw
Bukayo Saka has issued a public apology to a Liverpool player following Arsenal’s 1-1 draw at Anfield.
Premier League leaders Arsenal escaped with a point after a pulsating encounter on Merseyside on Saturday night.
The Gunners had looked like they might end their Anfield hoodoo when Gabriel Magalhaes put the visitors in front with a header after just three minutes.
Liverpool were denied a penalty shortly afterwards when referee Chris Kavanagh waved away their appeals after a Martin Odegaard handball in his own area.
But the home side levelled later in the half, Mohamed Salah scoring a brilliant goal to secure a point for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The final result was somewhat overshadowed by an injury to left-back Kostas Tsimikas, who was forced off midway through the first half after colliding with his own manager.
Saka barged Tsimikas off the pitch and into Klopp, sending the Liverpool boss flying in the 33rd minute of the match.
Greece international Tsimikas stayed down injured and had to be replaced by Joe Gomez, with the left-back forced to go to hospital.
Klopp later confirmed that Tsimikas had suffered a broken collarbone, a major blow to Liverpool with first-choice left-back Andy Robertson also currently injured.
Speaking after the game, Saka apologised to Tsimikas for the incident.
“I heard he has gone to hospital so obviously I want to apologise to him, I didn’t mean it of course,” Saka told Sky Sports.
“For me it was a 50/50 and I have gone shoulder to shoulder with him. I didn’t see it but he must have taken a bad fall, I didn’t see him go into Jurgen Klopp either.
“I was focused on running forward because I didn’t think it was a foul. That’s my take on it.”
Klopp expressed his frustration in his own post-match interview, while also confirming the severity of Tsimikas’ injury.
“It was massively overshadowed by Kostas Tsimikas collarbone issue, definitely broken, so he is out for a long time,” said Klopp.
“The other issues we will have to see. It is hard for us to swallow with the Robbo [Andy Robertson] situation.”

Jamie Carragher issues brutal 14-word putdown to Arsenal fans after claims Jurgen Klopp ‘complimented’ league leaders
Jamie Carragher has issued a brutal response to Arsenal supporters after Jurgen Klopp appeared to compliment Mikel Arteta’s side.
Following the Merseysiders’ 5-1 demolition of West Ham in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening, the Liverpool boss insisted the atmosphere inside Anfield will have to be on top form ahead of Saturday’s meeting between the two sides.
The former Borussia Dortmund manager suggested fans should “give their ticket to somebody else” if they are not going to back the Reds, in what is shaping up to be an early six-pointer between the Premier League’s current top two teams.
Arsenal fans took his comments as a compliment of Mikel Arteta’s side and how they have performed this season but Carragher, who aired his views on X earlier today, believes one previous example of how Arteta tried to prepare his team for a trip to Merseyside is the biggest praise of all.
”It’s not as big a compliment as Arteta playing YNWA in a training session,” wrote Carragher, when replying to fan account @Gunnerblog regarding Klopp’s words being interpreted as a ‘compliment’ towards the Gunners.
Anfield’s atmosphere has been questioned over the last 12 months, with the club having once again opted to open up a new stand to enable more fans to see their team in action.
The Anfield Road Stand can now house an extra 7,000 supporters above the popular away section and was used for the first time against Manchester United in a 0-0 draw where the atmosphere was questioned by Gary Neville before Klopp made his own feelings clear after their win over the Hammers.
“I have to say – it’s long ago that I said this – but I thought the first half a little bit, when the boys played really exceptional, I was not overly happy, I have to say, with the atmosphere behind me,” began the 56-year-old on Wednesday.
“I don’t know. I don’t ask people, what do we want? We changed a lot of things. We dominated West Ham like crazy. We missed chances. And I mean, if I would be in the stand I would be on my toes, 1,000 per cent.
“I don’t know if the Man United game was that bad that we have to say, ‘oh sorry that we didn’t smash them’. “We need Anfield on Saturday. Without Anfield, I would say – after they (Arsenal) didn’t play this week, they prepare for this game and anyone who knows a little bit about them, they will be prepared.”
