Liverpool takes on West Ham United in the Premier League, with two players set to be missing for Jürgen Klopp. David Moyes’ side will provide a stern test at Anfield.
Liverpool returns to Premier League action on Sunday with a fixture at Anfield against David Moyes’ West Ham United, who have begun the new campaign in good form.
Midweek, Jürgen Klopp’s men traveled to Austria to take on LASK in the Europa League, once again going a goal down only to then win 3-1. Luis Díaz won a penalty that Darwin Núñez netted before the Colombian scored himself. Mohamed Salah added a late third.
That continued the Reds’ strong start to the new season in which only Chelsea has prevented Liverpool from winning. It remains to be seen exactly how that result should be viewed with Mauricio Pochettino’s men struggling at the moment.
West Ham, though, has beaten Brighton away already this season and has only lost against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. The London side has some excellent players including Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paquetá and James Ward-Prowse and will provide a tough test that the Reds need to pass.
Klopp made 11 changes for the Europa League and while it is expected that Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté will retain their spots after playing mainly to get some rhythm, everyone else is at risk of dropping out.
Joe Gomez might be needed at full-back if Trent Alexander-Arnold doesn’t make it back in time to play and Andy Robertson will come back in. Ryan Gravenberch went off with cramp on Thursday and Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones will all expect to play in this one.
