Earlier this week saw the Owls confirm the signings of Juan Delgado and Ashley Fletcher as they continue to build a squad
capable of competing back in the Championship.
at Hillsborough this week on a season-long loan arrangement from Watford. It completes a reunion with his former Hornets
boss.
At Vicarage Road Fletcher was signed by Munoz in the summer of 2021 for their assault on the Premier League, but their
time together was brief. Munoz was axed in early October but that was still enough time for Fletcher to leave a lasting
impression on the 42-year-old.
He scored in both appearances prior to Munoz’s sacking, in League Cup ties against Crystal Palace and Stoke. Almost two
years later Fletcher has again signed for the Spaniard – with his manager expecting big things of the 27-year-old.
“For me, Fletcher is complete,” said Owls’ boss Munoz. “He’s like a target man, but also has the velocity to go into space –
when he was with me in Watford he knew exactly what I wanted from my strikers, and worked very hard. I think we will try
every day to give something different for the players… I think he’s an important player coming into our squad.

“He has potential. He has goals in his blood. It’s true I only gave him only two chances when we were at Watford, in the cup,
and in both games he scored. For me he’s a good striker and now is the moment for him to show everybody.”
Fletcher’s arrival came less than 24 hours after Juan Delgado also checked in at S6. On the 30-year-old’s credentials, Munoz
said: “Juan is an international for Chile, and he can play in a few positions – full-back, winger, as a number 10 or number
eight, and he’s a player who is aggressive and consistent. Right now that’s what we want, consistency.
“I’m very happy with him, he was a very good choice for us – and now it’s the time for Juan to improve. The faster that can
happen, the better for our squad.”
Munoz confirmed after Tuesday’s warm-up game with Doncaster that he remains on the lookout for further reinforcements.
Wednesday’s round off pre-season at home to Luton Town on Saturday before they open up the new Championship
campaign against Southampton at Hillsborough six days later.
