Leeds United could complete the signing of Chelsea midfielder Ethan Ampadu today.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who reports medical tests have been booked for the 22-year-old to undergo with
everything now ready for him to finalise his move in the coming hours.
After weeks of silence, Ampadu’s signing has moved extremely quickly in the last day or so with Leeds’ interest first having
been reported on Monday morning.
By the afternoon, both personal terms and fee had been agreed with player and club, giving him the greenlight to travel
north and undergo a medical.
Ampadu will become Leeds’ first senior signing of the summer in a deal worth an initial £7 million, which is undoubtedly a
significant coup for the Whites in the Championship.
Ampadu could sign today as Leeds book medical tests
With Leeds having finally received the greenlight from the EFL for San Francisco 49ers Enterprises’ takeover, Ampadu is
now expected to be the first of many.
That said, it is now clear Leeds have been working hard in the background to lay the groundwork for these deals given how
swiftly this deal appears to have moved.
Though Ampadu can also play centre back, his arrival is just the beginning of a significant rebuild needed in midfield,
which could also see the addition of Glen Kamara.
Leeds have already lost Weston McKennie and Marc Roca this summer, while both Adam Forshaw and Tyler Adams’ future
remain up in the air.
Ampadu will go a long way to replacing those players who have departed with Frank Lampard having previously described
him as ‘fantastic’, and his style should be perfect for the way Daniel Farke wants to play.

Graham Smyth details how many more signings Leeds want after Ethan Ampadu capture
Leeds United want at least five more signings after the arrival of Ethan Ampadu this summer.
That is according to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth, who says Leeds are still targeting a new goalkeeper,
at least one left-back, a right-sided centre-back, another midfielder and a number nine.
Smyth also adds that Leeds could strengthen their options out wide depending on who departs this summer, with Wilfried
Gnonto, Crysencio Summerville and Jack Harrison all having been linked with moves.
Leeds can finally begin to start motoring in their quest for incomings with the EFL having finally given San Francisco 49ers
Enterprises the green light last night.
Ampadu is set to become Leeds’ first signing of the window with a £7 million deal having been struck with Chelsea, and
medical tests having been booked.
Smyth says Leeds want at least five after Ampadu
As mentioned, goalkeeper is certainly an area that needs addressing with Joel Robles having confirmed his departure
yesterday, and Illan Meslier also expected to depart. Karl Darlow and Alexander Nubel are reported targets.
Left-back is also top of the agenda for Leeds this summer having been a problem position for so many years at Elland Road.
Charlie Taylor is the only concrete link so far after Ryan Manning went to Southampton.
On top of Ampadu, another central midfielder is also needed due to the number of departures that have been in that position
so far this summer. Gustavo Hamer and Glen Kamara appear the most concrete options at this stage.
With Leeds having lost both Robin Koch and Diego Llorente, another right-sided centre-back is required to compete
alongside Charlie Cresswell. Nat Phillips of Liverpool is a target.
Finally, with Leeds’ leading marksman of last season Rodrigo departing for Qatar last week, a prolific new striker is
desperately needed. Swansea City’s Joel Piroe is among the options being looked at.
