Sheffield Wednesday have announced the arrival of two young players, with Jay Buchan and Ryan Wilson joining the club.
“It’s a pleasure to sign my first contract and I just want to work hard,” he told the club’s official website. “I play anywhere in
the midfield, I’m up and down and want to create chances and stop goals as well. I was around the first team on the weekend
which was great and it’s a big drive.
“I just want to get my head down for the U21s and hopefully push towards the first team.”
Meanwhile, Wilson, an 18-year-old centre back, has spoken about how pleased he is to be on board.
He said, “I’m buzzing to be here, I spent some of last season here so I’m delighted to get the deal over the line. I’ve come here
for a fresh start and Wednesday have given me that. I’m straight in with the U21s and I’ve earned myself a contract.
“I’m a technical player, I can play central midfield and centre back. So, it’s getting on the ball and playing out from the back
to create chances. Seeing the lads from my age group, who I was playing with last season, getting a chance with the first
team, it’s a really good opportunity.”

Xisco Munoz makes Sheffield Wednesday transfer admission amid Axel Werner link
Sheffield Wednesday have made just one signing so far with Reece James the only new player to have been added to the
squad this summer.
Sheffield Wednesday boss Xisco Munoz has refused to rule out a move for Argentine goalkeeper Axel Werner. The Owls have
been linked with a flurry of players in recent days including former Atletico Madrid stopper Werner. He is without a club
after his deal with Elche expired last week.
The Owls sealed their first win of pre-season on Tuesday night with a come-from-behind 2-1 win at non-league Chesterfield.
Speaking post-match, the Spaniard was asked about transfers – including the chances of a deal for the 27-year-old.
He told the media: “Right now my table is very (makes sign to indicate busy). Now is the moment to have good choices. I
don’t want to say anything because I could give information! But for sure we try to get a better choice because we know what
is important for us.
“We are thinking we are close (to signings). I know the market is not easy. I know also we have very good players and we
need work with either the same level or higher.
“It’s not easy but we’re thinking we’ll start moving soon.”
When pressed if any potential deals could be done before the team jets out to Spain this coming weekend, the 42-year-old
added: “This is the idea but you never know about the market. We have a short time but for me the priority right now is to
know exactly what the level of our squad is.”
The Owls will now head for their pre-season training camp in Span off the back of a morale-boosting win, a result achieved
after Lee Gregory scored a second half brace in Derbyshire cancelled out a first half opener for the hosts.
