Reece James, who has just signed with Sheffield Wednesday, says he is “over the moon” to have finished a return to

Hillsborough.

James was a Blackpool player who spent the 2022–23 season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday. James made a significant

impact to the club’s promotion by playing 25 times in League One and in all three of the club’s play-off matches.

Recent reports said that Darren Moore wanted to bring him back on a long-term basis, but after Moore left, it was unclear

how his possible return stood.

That is, up until Friday, when the club confirmed his recent arrival.

The first words Reece James spoke after joining Wednesday

James conducted an interview with the Hillsborough media team that was published in conjunction with his signing, as new

players frequently do.

The defender acknowledged during the interview that he fell in love with the team while on loan there the previous season

and couldn’t help but express his joy at being back.

James told SWFC club reporters, “Obviously, I’m thrilled the moon to get this resolved.

“Even though it took some time, I’m delighted that it is now finished.

“I’d set out to do it from the end of the season once we got promoted, and yeah, I’m just glad to get it finished,” the author

said.

When James was on loan at the club last season, he saw what a wonderful place it is, and he talks about how much he

wanted to do something during his time there.

James continued, “I think certainly as the season went on, I realized how fantastic this club is.

“The group of lads and everything about it, and I wanted to do something with the club, and like I say, getting promotion

was the icing on the cake.”

James also spoke on the role that his followers played in bringing him back.

“The fans have been incredible with me since I came here,” the defender continued.

“Especially after what happened in my first game, and it’s a massive part of why I wanted to come back.

“The club is still not where it deserves to be, but hopefully we can make that happen and keep pushing to get it back where

it belongs.”
