If Darlow is dawdling on a move away because he’s still undecided, we need to move on.
As much as he’d be a decent signing for us in the Championship, the time taken to get this done is not ideal.
The league we’re in boasts a good number of ‘keepers that would be more than good enough for us this season
under Farke.
We need to work a lot faster though if we want to get a deal done.
Leeds United turned down a bid from Everton for winger Willy Gnonto this month, as they look
to resist interest in the Italian international.
The Whites are getting into gear with new signings this summer after confirming the arrival of Ethan Ampadu
from Chelsea on Wednesday.
While more incomings are needed, Daniel Farke will be hoping the club can retain key players following
relegation.
Willy Gnonto to Everton?
It was confirmed by the Daily Mail that Leeds had received an opening offer from Everton for Willy Gnonto this
month, amounting to £15million.
However, the bid was unsurprisingly turned down quite swiftly with Leeds wanting more for the 19-year-old
Italian international.
What has Fabrizio Romano said?
- Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on the matter now, indicating that this transfer pursuit is far from over at Goodison Park.
Speaking to Give Me Sport, Romano had this to say on the Toffees’ interest in Leeds’ star youngster:
“Leeds will look for players in different positions. So, I think they will be really busy in the next week. It’s also important to see how the conversation with Everton will go for Wilfried Gnonto because Everton have approached Leeds.
“At the moment, Leeds are not happy with their proposal. Gnonto will be a crucial part of the transfer window for Leeds this summer.”
Leeds have every right not to be happy with Everton, tabling such an insulting bid for Gnonto, given how much they ended up squeezing out of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle.
If that’s a yardstick that we want to use, then Everton ought to be looking to double their bid if they want to sign him this summer.
It’s a bizarre transfer on all fronts really, because Gnonto won’t be moving onto huge things by going to another relegation battle, we won’t be getting the best fee possible, and Everton won’t be revolutionising their side despite a significant outlay.
