Burnley have joined the race to sign Leeds United transfer target Gustavo Hamer from Coventry City.
That is according to the Daily Telegraph, who report Vincent Kompany has made Hamer his next priority in the transfer
window this summer following the additions of James Trafford, Dara O’Shea, Soumalia Coulibaly and Jordan Beyer.
Burnley are now the second Premier League club ready to battle it out with Leeds for Hamer, with Sky Sports reporting
Fulham are also keen on his signature.
Hamer is one of the most sought-after players in the Championship after a stellar season at Coventry that saw him score 11
goals and provide 10 assists.
Phil Hay of the Athletic reported last week that Hamer is a player Leeds are heavily keen on, but they now face a real battle
to prise him to Elland Road.
Leeds united target Hamer
Hamer is into the final 12 months of his contract at Coventry and is yet to put pen-to-paper on a new deal amid the growing
interest from elsewhere.
Given Leeds are facing such heavy competition, this is a deal they really need to act fast on if they are to gave any chance of
competing with the offer of Premier League football.
Even despite his contract situation, Coventry are likely to be reluctant to sell given another of last season’s main men Viktor
Gyokeres is set to leave for in excess of £20 million.
Leeds are in desperate need of midfield reinforcements this summer and there currently is no one better on the market at
this level than Hamer.
However, it appears as though Nick Hammond, Daniel Farke and co will have a real job on their hands to convince Hamer
Leeds is the right move.

Report: Leeds now ready to raid PL club for key senior figure
San Francisco 49ers Enterprises are remaining patient in their pursuit of Orta’s successor and are happy to have their new

In the mean time, Leeds brought in former Newcastle and Celtic chief Nick Hammond as an interim football advisor to

Leeds open talks with Brentford director Dykes
Dykes has now been at Brentford for four years and has helped oversee the most successful period in the club’s history.
The Bees were promoted to the Premier League for the first time in 2021 and have since taken the Premier League by storm,
particularly last season, with a ninth placed finish.
Bryan Mbuemo, Ivan Toney, Ethan Pinnock, and other important recruits made by Dykes helped Brentford achieve their
recent success.
Prior to moving on to Brentford, the 39-year-old played for Bury during their League Two promotion campaign in 2018–19.
Given his accomplishments at Brentford, Dykes is a highly regarded person in the game, and his hiring by Leeds would be a
major coup.
