LFC recruits Afolami Onanuga to his first professional deal.

Liverpool FC has signed Afolami Onanuga to his first professional contract.

The 17-year-old midfielder was discovered playing grassroots football in Manchester and signed with the Reds as an U11.

After rising through the ranks at Kirkby, he is currently a regular in Marc Bridge-Wilkinson’s U18 team.

Onanuga, a gifted player who links the game well and looks to have an impact in the attacking third, is well-known to everyone at the Academy as “Fola.”

He made his debut with the U21s last month when he opened the Bristol Street Motors Trophy match at Bloomfield Road against Blackpool.

Club now ready to sell ‘world-class’ player just months after joining from Liverpool

Only a few months after Roberto Firmino joined Al-Hilal from Liverpool, the forward is apparently prepared to be sold by the Saudi Arabian team.

As Firmino was only recently signed by the Middle Eastern club in the summer, TeamTalk claims that they are prepared to let go of the Brazilian international.

Acclaimed by Jurgen Klopp as a “world-class” player, Firmino became a Liverpool club icon this year after leading the Reds to the UEFA Champions League trophy in 2019 and the Premier League victory in 2020.

However, since swapping Merseyside for Saudi Arabia, things have not gone to plan for Firmino, with the attacker struggling greatly for form out in the Middle East.

The forward has managed just three goals in 13 matches for Al-Hilal, and Firmino could now find himself out of the club heading into January.

Indeed, interest won’t be low in Firmino should a return to Europe become an option in 2024, and the Liverpool legend could find himself back on the continent sooner than expected.

Firmino leaving Al-Hilal could be good for his career

Few were sold on the idea of a player as good as Firmino swapping the Premier League for Saudi Arabia, yet a return to Europe could now be possible.

Whilst things haven’t worked out in Saudi Arabia, the Brazilian forward is clearly good enough to still play for one of the biggest clubs in the world.

And returning to a Champions League could be possible, with Firmino no doubt having admirers from across Europe if Al-Hilal were to actually sell the forward.
