Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for Fluminense star Andre..

Liverpool have been linked with Brazil midfielder Andre, who has starred for Fluminense this year.

The 22-year-old, who has won two caps for his country, helped his team lift the Copa Libertadores trophy earlier this month and is regarded as one of the best young players in his homeland.

And Express Sport takes a look at what we know about the star’s transfer situation.

Verbal agreement

According to Globo, Andre should leave Fluminense at the end of this year as he has been promised by the club’s president that he can move to Europe once his season in Brazil comes to an end.

And Liverpool appear to be in the driving seat to land him after scouting him for more than 18 months.

Andre has made 55 appearances in all competitions throughout 2023, with Fluminense currently occupying eighth place in the Brasileiro Serie A table.

He also played the full 120 minutes as his team were taken to penalties by Boca Juniors in the Copa Libertadores showpiece event before coming out on top in a penalty shootout.

Arsenal, Man Utd and Tottenham threat

According to 90min, Andre is being pursued by a whole host of Premier League clubs.

Arsenal like the look of the player, with Manchester United and Tottenham also joining the race to sign him.

And Fulham were even keen to land him in the summer.

Liverpool’s latest midfield rebuild is already looking to have been more successful than many assumed it would have been when 2022/23 drew to a close.

Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch look like future superstars — if they are not there already — while Alexis Mac Allister and Wataru Endō have shown promise in bursts if not yet consistently.

Despite this excellent business, many supporters felt the Reds needed to do more last summer, with reinforcements for the backline also deemed a necessity.

The emergence of Jarell Quansah and Liverpool’s largely good defending this season may have quelled those needs a little, but the defense remains the area of the squad likely to be next addressed in the transfer market.

When it comes to rumors, some circulate for years before coming to fruition, while many linger and never get completed.

Liverpool is being linked with a young defender who it was reportedly interested in signing at least three years ago.

It may even offer a chance to correct a deal some fans might consider a mistake.

Lloyd Kelly is the player in question; he was the main story on the BBC’s daily transfer rumour roundup recently.

The headline of a TeamTalk article stated, “Bournemouth will turn down any approaches for defender Lloyd Kelly in January, with Tottenham, Liverpool, Newcastle, and AC Milan all keen on the 25-year-old Englishman.”

It makes sense that the Cherries, who are in the thick of the relegation fight, would want to hold onto a player who has started six of their last eight league games and twice served as their captain.

But, Kelly’s contract expires in the summer of 2020, so Bournemouth’s next transfer window is their last chance to demand a premium for the 25-year-old.
