According to Football Insider, Mohamed Salah’s move from Liverpool to the Saudi Pro League next summer is a “done deal.”
Editor Wayne Veysey of Football Insider’s YouTube show revealed that a move for the 31-year-old in 2024 is now unavoidable.
The Liverpool star is thought to have verbally agreed to join the Saudi Pro League’s growing ranks of elite stars, with a deal now agreed in principle.
Liverpool will not sell Salah in January, according to Football Insider, who reported on Monday (30 October).
But a well-placed source has told Football Insider that the player’s head has been turned with a mega-money contract likely to be on offer in the Middle East. Al-Ittihad were the club to come forward with a bid in the most recent summer window but saw all advances rejected by Liverpool.
However, it is now believed that a bid of £150 million or more could land Salah at the end of the 2023-24 season.
He will turn 32 just days after the season ends, and he will have one year left on his reported £350,000-a-week Anfield contract.
Salah has 10 goals and four assists in 14 appearances this season across all competitions, and he was named captain in Liverpool’s 2-1 League Cup win over Bournemouth on Wednesday (1 November).
The Egypt international will be absent from several games in the coming year as he travels to the African Cup of Nations.
On Saturday (4 November), Liverpool and the forward will face struggling Luton Town.
After ten games, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are fourth in the Premier League.
