Liverpool has secured a £60 million deal, moving closer to making a third transfer of the window.
Liverpool moved quickly in the summer transfer window to sign starlet player.
Liverpool is preparing an official offer for Southampton star Romeo Lavia as they aim for their third transfer of the
summer transfer window.
This summer, Jurgen Klopp has already added two players to his midfield: Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig and
Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton. The Reds manager is eager to bolster his team, though, since Alex Oxlade-
Chamberlain, Naby Keita, James Milner, and Arthur Melo have all left the organization.
Liverpool is expected to submit an opening offer for Lavia, a 19-year-old player who Southampton values at £50
million, according to talkSPORT (via the Mirror). According to reports, Chelsea would compete with the Anfield
team for the former Manchester City player.
Lavia played for relegated Southampton last season and made 29 appearances. He scored his first goal as a
professional in an August 2-1 win over Chelsea. The midfielder played much of the absorbing match against
Liverpool in his final Premier League contest for the Saints.
The contract that brought Lavia to Southampton last year included a 20% sell-on clause, which Premier League
champions City insisted be included. Additionally, the Belgian international has a buy-back option available to Pep
Guardiola’s team that takes effect in 2024.
Szoboszlai, who assisted RB Leipzig in earning a spot in the Champions League last season, has joined Liverpool for
about £60 million. Now that Oxlade-Chamberlain has left, Klopp appears eager to add Lavia to his midfield lineup.
The teenager is viewed as a potential long-term successor.
After the Reds finished four points outside the Champions League spots last season, the manager of Liverpool will be
hopeful that the arrivals of Mac Allister and Szoboszlai can help the Reds back to the top four.
On Szoboszlai, Klopp said: “I’m pretty sure he was still a teenager at that time and since then he has made some big
strides – moving to Leipzig, doing really, really well in the Bundesliga, playing for the Hungary national team and
then becoming captain of his national team at an incredibly young age.
