DONE DEAL: 24 YEAR OLD STARLET SIGNS FOR BURNLEY.

West Bromwich Albion can confirm Republic of Ireland international Dara 24 year old star has joined Premier League side Burnley for an undisclosed fee. 

The academy graduate joined the club as a 16-year-old from Dublin’s St Kevin’s Boys and made a total of 107 games for the Baggies.

In the 2019–20 promotion season, under Slaven Bili, he made his senior team debut. The next season, he played regularly in Premier League games.

The 24-year-old made an impressive transition to international football, earning 19 caps for his nation while playing for Albion, and was named the FAI Young Player of the Year in 2020.

O’Shea added further noteworthy accomplishments to his Hawthorns career last season, serving as club captain against Hull City in August for the first time, and reaching the 100-match mark against Birmingham City in February.

Dara O’Shea will bring in £7 million for West Brom after the defender’s transfer to Burnley is confirmed.

According to numerous sources, the 24-year-old will begin the upcoming season at Turf Moor after passing his new club’s physical. According to The Telegraph, O’Shea’s Albion contract had an £8 million release clause, but the club agreed to settle for less because Burnley was the only team interested in signing him.

In order to make modifications after receiving Premier League parachute payments for the previous two years, West Brom has taken use of their in-house center back.

O’Shea acquired knowledge while on loan at Hereford and Exeter, eventually becoming a regular with the latter across their 2018/19 League Two season. He broke into the West Brom side in the Championship the following season and was then a regular in the Premier League in 2020/21.

He has now played 107 times for the Albion and has made an impression on Vincent Kompany, whose Burnley team is back in the Premier League after winning the Championship last year.

O’Shea made 41 appearances last season before a knee injury ended his career in March. In this month’s victory over Gibraltar in their Euro 2024 qualifying match, he made his comeback for the Republic of Ireland.

O’Shea might make his Premier League debut when Burnley host defending champion Manchester City on Friday, August 11, assuming the transaction is approved.

Albion was given an away first-round Carabao Cup matchup against Championship rivals Stoke City. The game’s specific date has not yet been determined, but it will take place the week of August 7 as of now. That is the first midweek after Albion’s opening Championship match of the year on Saturday, August 5, at Blackburn Rovers.
