According to Fabrizio Romano, the 24-year-old West Brom star has finished the Burnley medical as his departure from West Brom nears completion.
On June 23, an Italian journalist claimed that Burnley was close to finalizing the £7 million acquisition of Dara O’Shea.
A sum had been agreed upon by the two clubs, according to John Percy of The Telegraph, who wrote the story on Thursday, June 22. O’Shea underwent his physical that same afternoon. Now that this medical has been finished, Romano has reported it.
Burnley is about to finalize the £7 million signing of Dara O’Shea. Soon, Vincent Kompany will get a new defender, tweeted Romano.
Medical work was finished yesterday, as reported by the Telegraph.
O’Shea has been a decent player for the team, but West Brom would have been foolish to pass up a £7 million fee for his services, especially given the circumstances.
It would be intriguing to watch how the defender performs when he returns to the Premier League at Turf Moor under Vincent Kompany. The defender would frequently find himself out injured and occasionally had a mistake in him.
Although there was reportedly an £8 million release clause, the Baggies decided to sell because Burnley was the only team interested. The decision is wise and will help stabilize some finances, but further sales must be made before the club can be in a strong position.
In any case, O’Shea has been with West Brom for four years, participating in both promotions and the Baggies’ final Premier League adventure. Many fans will wish him well now that his contract appears to be finalized.

Burnley are lining up a move for Millwall midfielder Zian Flemming, with Vincent Kompany chasing the Dutchman after he netted 15 goals in the Championship last season
Zian Flemming, an attacking midfielder for Millwall, is a player Burnley is interested in signing as Vincent Kompany’s team gears up for their first season back in the Premier League.
Flemming only moved to England a year ago, but his skill in the box and eye for goal have already won over Burnley management.
The 24-year-old joined Millwall from Dutch Eredevisie team Fortuna Sittard and scored 15 goals as Millwall ended one point outside the Championship play-off spots in the previous campaign.
Impressive displays in the second-tier of English football have peaked Burnley’s interest with the club now keen to pursue a deal for Flemming.
Millwall’s £1.7million capture was a club record transfer and they would likely seek a heavily increased fee from Burnley for his signature.
Clarets boss Kompany is keen to reinforce his title-winning squad for the challenges of the Premier League, with Jordan Beyer signing a four-year deal after his loan spell.
Meanwhile, Flemming would add talented midfield reliability to Burnley with the playmaker missing just three games at the start of last season for Millwall before going on to feature in every other Championship game.
Millwall have already started to identify replacements and are interested in bringing QPR striker Lyndon Dykes to the Den.
Dykes recently scored in Scotland’s comeback victory over Norway in Oslo and chipped in with eight Championship goals last season. The 27-year-old moved south of the border from Scottish side Livingston in 2020 and has one year left on his deal at QPR.
