DECISION HAS BEEN MADE: Bayern Munich and Eric Dier called it quits due to…

Bayern Munich have made a big decision on Eric Dier’s future after just five matches.

The Bavarian giants have endured a tumultuous time in the past few weeks, with manager Thomas Tuchel now set to depart at the end of the season.

The 50-year-old replaced Julian Nagelsmann at Bayern in March 2023 and led them to the Bundesliga title months later.

However, the club now sit eight points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen after back-to-back league defeats. One of those losses was an emphatic 3-0 loss to Leverkusen, while they were beaten 1-0 by Lazio in their Champions League round of 16 first leg.

According to Sport Bild, there are also doubts surrounding the future of Bayern defender Dier, with the England international unlikely to stay at the club beyond the summer

The main doubts are allegedly regarding Dier’s ability and basic performances, while there have also been question marks over his speed.

Dier has played five times for Bayern since joining from Tottenham on loan, and should he reach a certain tally of games the German club will reportedly have to pay around €3million (£2.5million) and make the move permanent.

The 30-year-old was originally signed as a defensive backup amid an ongoing injury crisis at the club.

He joined the club six months after England captain Harry Kane arrived from Tottenham Hotspur in a deal worth an initial £86million.

Upon joining Bayern, Dier said the move was a “dream come true”.

“This move is a dream come true for me,” Dier said following his arrival. “Because as a child you want to play for a club like Bayern one day. Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world and has an incredible history.

“I want to help the team with my versatility in defence. I’m really looking forward to my new teammates and the fans at the Allianz Arena, which in my eyes is one of the best stadiums in the world.”

Bayern Munich make Thomas Tuchel sack decision after third defeat in nine days

Bayern’s season is falling apart.

Bayern Munich have made a decision on the future of manager Thomas Tuchel with their season threatening to fall apart.

On Sunday Bayern lost 3-2 to VfL Bochum, their third defeat in nine days and one that has surely ended their Bundesliga title hopes.

Tuchel’s side lost 1-0 to Lazio in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Wednesday, days after they were thrashed 3-0 by title rivals Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayern now find themselves eight points behind Bundesliga leaders Leverkusen with just 12 matches left to play.

Despite the sensational form of Harry Kane this season – the former Tottenham Hotspur striker has scored 29 goals in 30 games in all competitions – Bayern have regressed under Tuchel this season.

There have been plenty of reports and rumours in recent weeks that Bayern bosses are set to call time on Tuchel’s tenure, but they look set to give the coach more time.

According to a report from Bild, Bayern have no plans to replace Tuchel.

Former Bayern boss Hansi Flick has been touted as a potential Tuchel successor, but prominent club board member Uli Hoeness is allegedly not convinced that Flick could rescue Bayern’s season.

After the defeat to Bochum, Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said that Tuchel will “of course” be in charge for Bayern’s next match against RB Leipzig on Saturday, a must-win fixture.

However, he didn’t rule out dismissing the coach at a later stage.

“These vows of loyalty are usually gone again after a week, so I say it in my own way,” Dreesen said.

“I’ve said it before, and I’ll repeat myself, it’s not an issue that we’re concerned with at the moment.”

Tuchel has only been Bayern manager since March 2023, when he replaced Julian Nagelsmann in the dugout.

The 50-year-old tactician won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021, but was sacked in 2022 after failing to see eye-to-eye with new owner Todd Boehly.
