We all expected when Liverpool purchased Alexis at the start of the summer that he’d be plugged into one of the n0.8 spots, but with unsuccessful transfers for Caicedo and Lavia, Liverpool never addressed the starting no.6 position after Fabinho’s departure.

So far, Alexis has been used in the no.6 position with mixed results. Dave examines Alexis’ role for Brighton and compares it to his at Liverpool.

Liverpool have reportedly expressed interest in signing 18-year-old Real Betis winger Assane Diao in January, with Mohamed Salah‘s future at the club still uncertain.

The teenager is said to be highly rated, and his performances for the Spanish La Liga side this season have already attracted the attention of several clubs across Europe.

Despite fending off the PIF-owned club throughout the transfer season, the Saudi Pro League club is expected to return with a better offer for the Egyptian next year.

Diao’s current contract expires in the summer of 2027, and while Los Verdiblancos will most likely strive to keep him, they may find it tough if possible bidders agree to trigger the contractual release clause.
