Reports have claimed that there is one very solid reason why Moises Caicedo wants to join Chelsea instead of Liverpool right now.
According to The Independent, the player is enthused by being the club’s number one target in a position that so obviously needs improving this summer.
At this stage, it’s anyone’s guess as to where Caicedo will end up this summer after a sensational 24 hours have passed in the saga of the window.
Late last night, a deal was agreed between Liverpool and Brighton for the transfer, with a fee that would break any records set by British transfers.
Even manager Jurgen Klopp was able to admit in his press conference that a deal was done, although stated that personal terms were not yet agreed.
Now though, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the player has decided he wants to play for Chelsea, instead of the side who have currently agreed a transfer fee.
While this does not mean a deal is agreed to bring him in, you have to think that this level of encouragement is enough for the Blues to cough up the extra money
required to bring him in.
The transfer that has taken yet another twist has now left an even more uncertain state for Romeo Lavia. Sources claimed that Chelsea were set to move for him if
they missed out on Caicedo.
It is fair to say that whichever team does not pick up the Ecuadorian this summer will almost certainly walk away with Lavia as a nice consolation prize.

‘From the player’s end’: Sky journalist shares what they’ve just been told about Moises Caicedo to Chelsea
Moises Caicedo’s camp believe that Chelsea have the first part of the deal to sign the Brighton star boxed off.
That is according to Sky Sports journalist Melissa Reddy.
Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, who’s just 21, continues to be at the heart of a wild transfer saga this week involving both Chelsea and Liverpool.
Reddy claimed on Twitter this afternoon that sources from Caicedo’s end told her that Chelsea do have part of his transfer wrapped up. However, the Blues must
still find that elusive agreement with Brighton for the transfer.
“Info from the player’s end is Chelsea have this first part boxed off – Caicedo reiterated they are his choice. Clubs yet to confirm, but one feeling is it could be to get
more money. Still work to do in terms of making a formal offer Brighton deem acceptable in the circumstances,” Reddy wrote on social media.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on Twitter around midday that Caicedo has now told Liverpool he only wants a move to Chelsea in this window. In addition,
the Blues are getting ready to launch a new bid for the Brighton defensive midfielder.
It felt like Chelsea’s attempts to sign the Ecuador international were dead in the water Friday morning. This was after The Athletic claimed that Liverpool had
reached an agreement with Brighton to sign Caicedo for £110million.
It sounds like the player’s persistence to come to Stamford Bridge is now swinging the momentum back towards the Blues.
The eventual buyers are going to be splashing out a crazy amount of money for Caicedo, which will be yet again a sign of how good Brighton are at selling players.
There’s no doubt Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea squad is looking thin on the ground in the centre of the park, so we’re going to be over the moon if Brighton’s
talisman does join.
We expect big pressure from day one at a price tag of £100million-plus, though.
Let’s wait and see if there are any more twists in this story first. The way things have been going it seems inevitable!
