Alan Shearer praised Chris Wood’s performance, calling it the “form of his life,” and it’s tough to argue with the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer. Wood has scored seven goals in nine matches this season and needs just three more to become Nottingham Forest’s all-time leading Premier League scorer.
The New Zealand-born striker netted two goals in his last match against Leicester, bringing his total to four goals in three games, but was substituted in the 81st minute.
Wood was spotted icing his foot on the bench after being substituted, which was concerning for Forest fans. Manager Espirito Santo didn’t have much information to share, stating, “I hope not. Let’s assess, but I hope not.”
However, Wood later provided an update after the match that would reassure both FPL managers and Forest supporters. He explained, “He just stood on my foot; it’s one of those things. Hopefully, it should be fine. I have another week to recover. No, it’s nothing serious.”
