West Ham are readying a bid for Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka, according to Sky Sports Germany.
The Hammers are in the market for reinforcement in the engine room after Declan Rice finally completed his £105million
move to Arsenal on Saturday.
Several names have been linked to the Hammers and Sky Sports said on Monday (17 July) that Goretzka is a name on West
Ham’s shortlist.
Sky Sports wrote: “Is Leon Goretzka fleeing Bayern Munich to the Premier League?
“According to Sky information, West Ham United is preparing an offer for the record champions’ midfielder.
“Goretzka was recently publicly criticised by Thomas Tuchel.”
West Ham have been linked with several midfielders during the transfer window.
Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse, Denis Zakaria of Juventus, and Ajax’s Edson Alvarez have been the most prominent
names to have been touted with a switch to the London Stadium.
But Goretzka is a new name, and what a name to be linked. Since making the move to Bayern for the 2018-19 campaign, the
Germany midfielder has won five Bundesliga titles, the DFB-Pokal twice, and the Champions League.
Losing Rice is obviously a huge blow to the quality in West Ham’s ranks, but in Goretzka they would be signing an
international midfielder with a huge winning pedigree.
Bayern may be willing to do business, although it is worth noting that the Bundesliga champions were one of the sides who
were linked to Rice before his move to the Gunners, so it is possible that Bayern will first have to source reinforcements
before allowing players to leave.

West Ham United target Scott McTominay could be available for transfer as Man United ace has ‘greater selling power’
Scott McTominay, a target for West Ham, could be a transfer candidate this summer because, in the words of the Metro, he
has “greater selling power” than some of his Manchester United teammates.
According to a newspaper article on July 17, Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag would consider offloading the Scotland
international this summer if the “right offer” materializes.
According to the report, the Dutchman believed the 26-year-old would be simpler to dispose than the Scot because he is
younger than fellow United midfielders Fred and Donny van de Beek.
Ideal Rice replacement
It seems as though Ten Hag is a little reluctant to let McTominay leave after he featured 39 times for the Red Devils last
season.
Since coming through the ranks at Old Trafford, having been at the club for 21 years, the midfielder has made more than
200 appearances in a red shirt.
He has been a popular figure amongst just about every Man United manager he has worked under, with previous boss Jose
Mourinho making him “Manager’s Player of the Season” following the 2017/18 campaign [Independent].
It’s no surprise that David Moyes is reportedly a big fan of his fellow Scot after he has put in a number of excellent
performances when coming up against his Hammers side.
McTominay would be a great replacement for Rice, given his experience at a top Premier League club, his presence in the
middle of the park and his ability on the ball.
