BREAKING NEWS: Sheffield Wednesday are interested in the signature of 25 year old star from Preston North.

In Yorkshire Live’s story, it is stated that Wednesday would like to have Storey return to Hillsborough.

Back in January 2022, PNE loaned Storey to Wednesday so that he could travel and play League One first-team minutes.

Storey assisted the Owls in making the playoffs, but in the semifinals they fell to Sunderland.

For the 2022–23 season, Ryan Lowe made the decision to bring Storey back to PNE, and he made 43 starts in the championship. The 25-year-old’s PNE career is back on track, so it won’t be simple to pry him away.

After joining PNE in the Championship, Wednesday reportedly hopes to entice Storey back, but a respectable amount would be needed.

PNE struck a deal thought to be worth around £750,000 to sign Storey from Exeter City in 2018.

Five years on and with Storey an important part of Lowe’s back three, North End would surely at least want their money back.

Jordan Storey should Preston North End sell him.
PNE must resume selling players and investing the proceeds in additional resale-value players.

Although it is challenging to execute, Craig Hemmings has stated that he wants to adopt this strategy moving forward.

Every team would implement what Brentford and Brighton have done if it were simple.

Regrettably, PNE probably needs one or two sales to get this kind of attitude going.

Ben Whiteman might be available for transfer if he doesn’t agree to a new contract this summer, and Freddie Woodman has been linked to other teams.

Then there is Storey, who is currently generating interest in a move that would be long-term.

At 25 years old, Storey is still in terrific health and has two more years.

That leaves PNE in a strong position to demand a hefty sum, possibly into seven figures for the defender.

If that offer comes and PNE can effectively reinvest the cash, it may be wise to sell Storey and hopefully use the money wisely.

The exclusive club that Sheffield Wednesday’s Star will join next season.

Sheffield Wednesday captain,  will join a very exclusive club at S6 next season as he enters into their top 20 appearance-makers.

The Owls skipper had his hands on the League One play-off final trophy a couple of weeks ago, and after a clause in his contract triggered a one-year extension of his deal it’s almost guaranteed that he’ll be donning blue and white again in 2023/24.

With that in mind, he needs just to play just two more games to go level with Peter Shirtliff in 20th place and join Liam Palmer in a select group of players who have written their name into the club’s history books.

Palmer, meanwhile, will hit an incredible milestone with three more appearances of his own – with the Owls academy product just a handful of matches away from becoming only the 14th player in the club’s history to reach the 400-game mark.

The player with the most appearances for the club after “Baz” and “Palms” is Dominic Iorfa, and the fact that he has over 200 fewer than both of them demonstrates just how much the Owls two have contributed to the cause over the years.

Englang 29 year old star could play at Hillsborough again after ‘talks’ with Sheffield Wednesday’s Championship rivals

The 29-year-old has spent the past season in France playing for OGC Nice, but it would appear that there is a possibility of him returning to his homeland over the summer after it was announced that he would be leaving the Ligue 1 outfit.

Barkley spent a short loan spell at Hillsborough back in 2012 when he scored four goals in 13 games in the Championship in what was the last season that he played in the second tier of English football.

Now though, as per a report by TEAMtalk, Michael Carrick is looking to use his reputation to tempt the England international to Teeside after they missed out on promotion to the Premier League following a play-off defeat to Coventry City.

The former Everton midfielder has played against Wednesday just once since his loan spell over a decade ago – in Chelsea’s FA Cup win at Stamford Bridge in 2019 – and has never returned to S6 for any of the three clubs that he’s played for post-Owls.

It remains to be seen whether Boro will be successful in their attempts to lure Barkley to the Championship for 2023/24, though, especially considering that he’s hardly going to be short of options as he weighs up his next move.
