Paul Merson thinks that if West Ham United defeats Brighton, the choice to remain with Julen Lopetegui will be successful.
At the Vitality Stadium [16 December], Lucas Paqueta gave the visitors a late lead from the penalty spot, but Enes Unal’s 90th-minute free-kick denied the visitors the three points, and the Spaniard just survived the first of the Hammers’ three make-or-break games.
In his Premier League predictions for Sportskeeda [19 December], Merson, however, thinks Lopetegui can silence his sceptics at the London Stadium on Saturday [21 December] and is supporting West Ham United to win the three points against Brighton.
“These were all winnable games, if you look at them,” he stated. “You can’t draw games against Southampton and Leicester City when you’re Brighton.” Last weekend, Crystal Palace also smashed them.
I’m worried about Brighton since they’re in a bad spot right now versus West Ham.I think the Hammers will win this match.
They performed admirably, in my opinion, in that away draw against Bournemouth last time out. For that point, the players put in a lot of effort.
At the Vitality Stadium, Andoni Iraola has already defeated Manchester City, Arsenal, and Tottenham this season.
It was generally anticipated that he would do the same against the faltering Hammers lukasz Fabianski was beaten from range after Konstantinos Mavropanos carelessly gave away the foul, resulting in the equaliser with the three points apparently secured, but Lopetegui had other ideas, and the visitors came very close to securing a historic three points.
