Despite Julen Lopetegui’s arrival at West Ham in the summer, he has struggled to get things going with his side and the Hammers have had a poor season so far.
The Irons have rarely produced a better standard of performance than they were seeing under David Moyes last year and results have been inconsistent.
As a result, there has been continuous chatter over the future of the Spaniard at the London Stadium, including conversations behind the scenes about potential successors, including former Denmark boss Kasper Hjulmand.
Nevertheless, the 58-year-old remains in charge and will be hoping to make it three unbeaten as they prepare to face Brighton on Saturday [21 December].
However, former Malmo manager Allan Kuhn has urged Hjulmand to keep close with an exit near as he said on ViaPlay [17 December]: “It will be a fantastic opportunity they have many resources and a fantastic team, not least offensively.
However, it does seem as though the Hammers may have turned a slight corner or late as they are unbeaten in two games and picking up a couple of points.
Although this won’t feel like much of a transformation to West Ham supporters, Lopetegui’s side are only six points away from the top six now making them closer to European football than they are to Championship football.
