BREAKING NEWS: Omar Khan and the Steelers Has Finally Made The Brilliant Move Of Signing Steelers Most Wanted

During his three seasons with the Chicago Bears, quarterback Justin Fields, now of the Pittsburgh Steelers, wore jersey number one. When he was a student at Ohio State, he wore No. 1. However, it’s unlikely that he’ll be given the starting spot as a Steeler.

The official Pittsburgh Steelers roster shows that two additional major additions, quarterback Russell Wilson and linebacker Patrick Queen, have already received their No. 3 and No. 6 jerseys. Additionally, Fields’ jersey, which is numbered 00 with the note “Jersey Number to Be Confirmed,” is available in the NFL Shop alongside their other jerseys.
The first jersey has not been retired by the Pittsburgh Steelers. The only numbers that the team has formally retired are:

DT (Ernie Stautner, 1950–1963), number 70
Joe Greene, DT, 1969–1981, p. 75
32 (Rick Bruno Harris, 1971–1983)
What then goes wrong?
The Pittsburgh Steelers are a club rich in heritage, and one aspect of that tradition is maintaining a semi-secret list of jersey numbers that are “unofficially” retired, of which No. 1 is a member.
It belongs to one of the all-time great Steelers, Gary Anderson, who played for the team from 1982 to 1994.

Gary Anderson: Who Is He?
Throughout his career, Gary Anderson was one of the NFL’s most dependable kickers and one of the greatest in league history. With a lopsided advantage, he leads the Pittsburgh Steelers in points scored all-time and is third in NFL history with 2,434 career points.

Anderson scored 1,343 points in thirteen seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, including three Pro Bowls and 309 field goals and 416 extra points. His pivotal moment occurred during the 1989 playoffs in the Wild Card round when the Steelers, the underdogs, defeated the Houston Oilers in overtime thanks to a 50-yard field goal.
