BREAKING NEWS: Novak Djokovic’s ‘fairytale’ unfolds as Serbian tennis star attempts…
Taylor Fritz has confessed that taking down Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon is a key part of his ‘fairytale’ aspirations at SW19.
The seven-time champion, who shares the record for most men’s singles titles at the tennis tournament with Roger Federer, is facing uncertainty over his participation in the 2024 event due to a knee injury sustained at the French Open.
Despite the setback, the 37-year-old Serbian remains the world’s top tennis player, and American ace Fritz is eager to notch a win against him on the sport’s most prestigious stage, reports the Express.
Fritz, 26, is gearing up for his eighth straight appearance at Wimbledon, having made it to the quarter-finals in 2022 where he was edged out by Rafael Nadal in a thrilling five-setter.
In an ATP Tour video, the Californian shared his vision of a Wimbledon fairytale, which includes not just lifting the trophy but also defeating Djokovic on the famous grass courts. “Fairytale story… Hopefully me! I mean obviously to win. If I beat Novak for the first time somewhere in there, I think that’s probably fairytale stuff,” Fritz revealed when discussing his dream scenario.
A potential showdown with the Serbian ace is now in doubt after he ripped his knee meniscus during a gruelling five-set win over Francisco Cerundolo at Roland Garros.
