The transfer of Khephren Thuram to Liverpool is swiftly progressing as the Merseysiders move quickly to stave off Premier League rivals’ interest.
According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Liverpool is stepping up its pursuit of the 22-year-old OGC Nice midfielder in
an effort to sign him this summer.
The Reds have paid close attention to the French superpower because boss Jurgen Klopp wants to expand his midfield
options.
The Reds have already made several intriguing moves in the transfer market, including signing Alexis MacAllister earlier
this summer, which has fans buzzing.
Dominik Szoboszlai’s recent acquisition by the club further indicates their intention to restructure their midfield.
Thuram, though, appears to have returned to Liverpool’s list of top targets according to Galetti’s most recent report. Galetti
said on Twitter that the Reds are attempting to move Thuram’s transfer along quickly, in part due to the possibility of
competition from Newcastle United.
“Liverpool are accelerating things for Khephren Thuram,” he said. To prepare for Newcastle’s competition, which is starting
to move concretely for the player: changing circumstances, LFC wants to cut the gap with OGC Nice soon.
According to earlier rumours, Liverpool would have to fork over €45M (£39M) to sign Thuram. Personal terms, however,
have already been agreed upon, and it is likely that his $14,000 weekly salary will significantly increase.
With the signing of Thuram, Liverpool would have a strong presence in the middle of the field. The young French star
impressed with his pace and strength during the 2022–2023 Ligue 1 season, showcasing his extraordinary abilities.
Midfield had poor technical abilities the previous season. Thuram, who is 6 feet 4 inches tall, is not lacking in talent. More
than any Liverpool midfielder player, he helped his club out last season with two goals and eight assists.
The cherry on top would be Khephren Thuram going to Liverpool.
Further, as Dave Davis disclosed on the Anfield Index Transfer Podcast, personal terms have already been reached with
Thuram. This suggests a great willingness on the part of both the player and the organization to finalize a deal.
In reaction to probable interest from Newcastle United, Liverpool is pursuing Thuram.
The Merseyside club is eager to complete the transaction as soon as possible to avoid competition from the Magpies, who are
apparently taking active steps to hire the French midfielder.
A historic summer for Liverpool would ensue from the club’s ability to sign Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, and Thuram.
Given the youth of the targeted players, such signings would not only solve recent weaknesses in their midfield but also offer
long-term solutions.
As the club looks to bolster its roster in front of the forthcoming season, Liverpool’s supporters will be eagerly awaiting
additional details on the status of the negotiations.

“From what I heard” – Fabrizio Romano hints Liverpool star on verge of contract talks
Fabrizio Romano, a prominent transfer specialist and journalist for CaughtOffside, claims the Reds have discussed the
prospect of negotiating a new contract with the Cameroon international.
However, Romano’s advice is to not worry. The Italian transfer expert hinted that the former VfL Bochum academy graduate might be on the verge of extending his stay in Merseyside in an exclusive interview with CaughtOffside’s DeBrief podcast on Monday.
Romano added, “From what I’ve heard, they’ve had some discussions with Joel Matip over a new deal, but it’s not quite anything concrete yet.”
Matip, who has 27 senior international caps to his record and has played at Anfield for six years, has personally assisted 17 goals in 187 games in all competitions.
Matip, 31, has been a constant in Jurgen Klopp’s matchday teams ever since moving from Schalke back in 2016.
The 31-year-old African, who is unquestionably crucial to the Reds’ system, has gained experience playing for the senior first
squad.
However, set to enter into his contract’s final year, there may be some concerns among Liverpool fans that the 31-year-old
will either leave Anfield this summer or depart as a free agent this time next year.
