Pundit tells Liverpool to sign Brentford star as Mohamed Salah replacement

Bryan Mbuemo of Brentford is mentioned by Tony Cascarino as a possible Mohamed Salah substitute at Liverpool.

Being the face of football in the Muslim world, Mohamed Salah, a brilliant player for Liverpool, is naturally sought after by cash-sick Saudi Pro-League clubs.

Before the summer transfer window of 2024, the Egyptian’s future at Anfield is uncertain, and should he depart, the Reds’ assault would suffer a great loss.

Tony Cascarino, a former striker for Chelsea, thinks that if Mohamed Salah leaves Anfield, Liverpool should go after Bryan Mbuemo of Brentford.

In terms of possible substitutes, it is possibly an unconventional decision.

Writing in The Times (Subscription Required), Cascarino insisted that the Reds should bag the versatile Mbuemo as soon as possible as his best years are still ahead of him.

Bryan Mbuemo of Brentford is being considered as a potential Mo Salah substitute.
Bryan Mbeumo should be purchased by Liverpool as a substitute for Mohamed Salah should he ever decide to quit the team.

At just 24 years old, he still has plenty of years ahead of him, and he possesses every quality needed to be successful at a team the caliber of Liverpool: versatility, durability, and a truly vicious counterattacking ability.

With nine goals in the Premier League the previous season and six in just 10 games this year—including the tap-in to an empty net that sealed Brentford’s 2-0 victory against Chelsea on the road—he has improved his goal total.

The former Republic of Ireland international highlighted Mbuemo’s steadily improving goal output for the Bees as evidence of his ability to produce in the final third.

At 24, the Brentford ace is still to hit his peak and has already proved his credentials in the Premier League.

Cascarino makes a compelling case that the Cameroonian forward could fill the void left by Salah’s goals and relentless pressing.

However, Liverpool must avoid viewing Mbuemo as a like-for-like replacement and instead empower him within their fluid system.

Mbuemo, who is 24 years old, has enough experience to handle the transition from Brentford’s direct style and offers long-term value.

This season, he has started all ten of Brentford’s games, scoring six goals and providing two assists.

While Mo Salah‘s otherworldly numbers would be irreplaceable, Mbuemo profiles as an intriguing alternative with his blistering pace and clinical edge.

But Jurgen Klopp would need to maximise his talents by focusing on his strengths rather than attempting to mould Mbuemo into a Salah clone.
