Liverpool goalkeeping coach John Achterberg has suggested that Wataru Endo was ‘on fire’ against Bournemouth last night.

Endo made his fifth start for Liverpool at Dean Court, providing some experience in a midfield containing the youthful Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott.
For the most part of his performance, the Japan captain was orderly and productive; he was changed at the hour.
Endo posted some pictures from the night on Instagram after the game. The 30-year-old wrote, “Next round,” along with a tick emoji.
Coach Achterberg, who frequently backs the players, was among those who left remarks.
This time, the Dutchman shared two flame emojis for Endo to enjoy—no words necessary.
Endo becoming settled in Liverpool
After moving from Stuttgart in the summer, Endo hasn’t exactly won over Liverpool fans, it’s probably fair to say.
A player who many wouldn’t have been familiar with prior to the transfer, the Japanese has had to quickly get used to a big jump in quality.
At times, it has been obvious that Endo has been playing at a slightly lower level throughout his career.
This isn’t a 23 or 24-year-old taking the next step. This is a well-versed experienced pro who is having to readjust his whole game.
With all that in mind, you have to really take your hat off to Endo.
It would have been easy for him to stay at Stuttgart – where he was captain – and see out the next few seasons into his thirties.

But Endo is clearly made of sterner stuff. Having grasped the challenge of playing for Liverpool, he’s now finding his feet in the squad.
