Curtis Jones, a standout for Liverpool, will serve a three-match suspension after receiving a red card at Tottenham.
According to Liverpool’s official website, midfielder Curtis Jones will serve a three-game Premier League punishment after losing his appeal for the red card he received against Tottenham on Saturday.
Jones was first given a warning for tackling Yves Bissouma of Spurs.
But after examining the VAR pitchside monitor, referee Simon Hooper upped it to red. Liverpool filed an appeal against the ruling, but it was denied.
The Reds’ forthcoming league matches against Brighton, Everton, and Nottingham Forest will be Curtis Jones’ last ones.
Curtis Jones, a standout for Liverpool, will serve a three-game suspension after his red card against Tottenham.
Replays indicated Jones’ foot slid before making contact with Bissouma, which made him appear unfortunate.
However, the challenge was viewed as significant misconduct, necessitating a red card and a three-match sentence.
Similar to Alexis Mac Allister’s red card earlier this season, Liverpool wanted to have the dismissal overturned. However, after review, their appeal was rejected.
Hooper was shown images on the monitor during the game, but it appears that they did not adhere to the usual VAR protocol. This probably helped Liverpool’s appeal, but it didn’t work.
Curtis Jones, a young player, will be suspended for three games.
In a shocking fashion, Liverpool has suffered their first defeat of the year.
In a contentious game, the Reds won thanks to a last-second own goal by Joel Matip. Diego Jota and Jones had been dismissed by that point, leaving Liverpool with eleven men.
Jones’ foot slipping led Liverpool to believe that he was unfairly punished. On review, the FA determined that referee Hooper had made the correct call.
Jones, 22, is still allowed to play for Liverpool against Union SG in the Europa League on Thursday because the suspension only applies at home.

VAR officials who made Liverpool error not selected amid ongoing controversy
Darren England and Dan Cook have not been selected for duty in the Premier League this weekend.
The VAR officials who made a major error in Liverpool’s Premier League defeat at Tottenham on Saturday have been stood down from duty for a second round of fixtures.
Referees Darren England and Dan Cook failed to overturn Luis Diaz’s wrongly disallowed goal, after not realising that on-field referee Simon Hooper and his assistant officials had initially ruled the goal out for offside.
England and Cook were subsequently replaced from Sunday’s match between Nottingham Forest and Brentford and the game between Chelsea and Fulham on Monday night, and neither official was issued a Premier League fixture this weekend.
Referee Hooper will be the lead VAR for Everton’s match against Bournemouth on Saturday, after he served as the fourth official for Chelsea’s victory over Fulham in Monday’s west London derby.
It comes as Liverpool made a formal request to receive the audio recording between the VAR officials in the 2-1 defeat at Tottenham, after the Anfield club released an unprecedented statement saying they would “explore a range of options” in response to the error.
