Breaking News: Jack Grealish has made intentions clear to Pep and decided to quit Man City as whispers gets louder
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has revealed he is “hearing” Jack Grealish could quit Man City in the summer window.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – also claimed City’s 115 outstanding financial charges will have no short-term impact on their transfer business.
Football Insider first revealed in April that Man City are willing to listen to offers for Grealish this summer following an uninspiring 2023-24 campaign for the winger.
The 28-year-old, who was left out of the England squad for the European Championships, is under contract at the Etihad Stadium until June 2027.
He started just 10 Premier League matches last season – and notched only three goals in 36 appearances across all competitions.
City boss Pep Guardiola reportedly held “frank talks” with Grealish about his form in the closing stages of the 2023-24 campaign after he became unhappy with his training performances.
‘I’m hearing’ Grealish could quit Man City, says Wyness
Wyness claimed City are “very clever” in the market and may have already identified a replacement for the ex-Aston Villa star.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Pep and his team will know what they’re doing on the football side. I don’t think player movement relates to these hearings.
“They’re very clever with recruitment, it’s never a desperate situation at City. I think there could be three signings this summer.
“They always have it planned and under control.
“There’s a big question mark about Grealish’s future. I’m hearing, just now, a lot of whispers about him potentially leaving.
“There are a lot of things floating around the edges, but City will be prepared and ready to sign replacements.
“I don’t think these 115 charges will have any impact in the short-term, they are the long-term issues to solve.”
