Felix Auger-Aliassime faced criticism from a tennis fan over the optimistic message he shared prior to the commencement of the 2024 US Open. The fan made fun of him after he lost in the first round of the New York Major.
Leading up to his campaign at Flushing Meadows, Auger-Aliassime competed in the 2024 Canadian Open, where he was defeated 6-3, 6-2 in the first round by Flavio Cobolli.
The former World No.6 then participated in the Cincinnati Open, securing victories over Aleksandar Kovacevic and Casper Ruud before falling 7-5, 4-6, 4-6 to Jack Draper in the third round.
At the 2024 US Open, Felix Auger-Aliassime was seeded 19th. Before beginning his campaign in New York, the Canadian took to social media to share an image of himself entering the tournament with a caption expressing his excitement for playing his first-round match.
“On my way to round 1 🚶 🇺🇸 😎 ,” Auger-Aliassime posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Unfortunately, Auger-Aliassime was defeated by Jakub Mensik 2-6, 4-6, 6-2 in the opening round, prompting a fan to mock him by altering the original photo and suggesting he was heading back to Canada.

Felix Auger-Aliassime’s best result this season to date came at the 2024 Madrid Open and the Paris Olympics.
In Madrid, Auger-Aliassime had defeated the likes of Yoshihito Nishioka, Adrian Mannarino, Jakub Mensik, Casper Ruud, Jannik Sinner, Jiri Lehecka to reach the final. At the championship match, he lost the title to Andrey Rublev who defeated him 4-6, 7-5, 7-5.
At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Auger-Aliassime teamed up with Gabriela Dabrowski for the mixed doubles event. Together, they triumphed over the British pair of Heather Watson and Joe Salisbury in the first round and the American pair of Coco Gauff and Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinals.
At the semifinals, the Canadian pair fell to eventual gold medalist Katerina Siniakova and Tomas Machac. However, Auger-Aliassime and Dabrowski bounced back in the bronze medal match, defeating the Dutch pair of Demi Schuurs and Wesley Koolhof 6-3, 7-6(2) to secure the medal.

Auger- Aliassime was the 12th seed in the tournament and he kicked off his campaign at Flushing Meadows by defeating qualifier Evgeny Donskoy 7-6(0), 3-6, 7-6(1), 7-6(8) and lucky loser Bernabe Zapata Miralles7-6(5), 6-3, 6-2 in the first and second rounds, respectively
The former World No.6 then overcame 18th seed Roberto Bautista Agut 6-3, 6-4, 4-6, 3-6, 6-3 in the third round and registered a 4-6 6-2, 7-6(6). 6-4 win over Frances Tiafoe in the fourth round.
Felix Auger-Aliassime’s place in the semifinals was confirmed after his quarterfinals opponent, Carlos Alcaraz retired from their match during the second set. However, his run at the New York Slam came to an end in the final four when he was defeated by second seed and eventual champion Daniil Medvedev 4-6, 5-7, 2-6.
