Breaking News: Gareth Southgate’s Potential Replacement Faces Backlash Over Phil Foden Scandal at Man City Due to…
Gareth Southgate has resigned as England manager – and there is one potential candidate to replace him who could bring out the best in Manchester City star Phil Foden.
Southgate stepped down on Tuesday, following the defeat to Spain in the final of Euro 2024.
The Three Lions lost 2-1 in Berlin, and Southgate is now ready to hand the reins over.
He has done a great job and many fans are thankful for everything he has done with the national team. Getting to two finals, one semi and one quarter-final is certainly good going.
But many feel he had reached the end of the line.
There is already plenty of talk about who could come in as his replacement, and there’s one person who has been mentioned who could be exactly who Phil Foden needs.

It has been reported by The Sun today that Lee Carsley, the current England U21s manager, is currently on pole position to replace Southgate on an interim basis.
Apparently, it is expected that he will take charge up until England play in the Nations League in September.
When Southgate became England manager back in 2016, he also took the job on an interim basis at first.
So it is not totally out of the question that Carsley could go a similar way. Although the FA are bound to have a number of other candidates in mind.
But potentially, this could be good news for City star Foden.
For those unaware, Carsley actually had a spell as the U18s manager at City. In the 2016/17 season, he oversaw a top-place finish in the North Division of the Professional U18 Development League 1.
He also guided the team to the FA Youth Cup final.
Carsley managed Foden that season, and ahead of the FA Youth Cup final against Chelsea, he raved about the then-16-year-old.
He said (via thefa.com): “Phil’s got the knack of getting important goals and the way he takes the ball and finishes is very impressive.
“He’s very talented. He’s a very good player for us and he was disappointed to come off but he cramped up and I thought it was best to change it.
“We’re looking forward to getting him back to full strength for the second leg because if we’re going to do well in this competition it’s going to be down to him.”
Under Carsley that season, Foden finished with 14 goals and seven assists to his name, and played 2417 minutes.
Foden hasn’t delivered for England, but Carsley could help him to

Few would disagree with the notion that Foden hasn’t really done it in an England shirt yet.
He wasn’t as bad at Euro 2024 as many made him out to be. Indeed, Gary Lineker admitted he felt Foden had been ‘unlucky’. But he was still nowhere near the levels he shows on a weekly basis for City.
Foden has 41 caps for his country now and it is about time he delivered the world-class performances in a Three Lions shirt we know he’s capable of.
Granted, Carsley hasn’t managed Foden for a long time. But it’s possible that Carsley will have an affinity to Foden having spent time with him at City. Clearly, he rated him highly back then and there’s a good chance he still feels the same.
We will see which way the FA goes on this. But Carsley coming in might just be something that helps Foden finally find his best form in an England shirt.
