Mikel Arteta is set to avoid a ban for his comments on officials after Arsenal’s match against Newcastle United at the weekend.
The FA has reportedly been considering Mikel Arteta’s remarks from the weekend. Although a judgment was not made last night, it seems the manager will likely avoid a ban, according to The Daily Telegraph’s print edition on Tuesday.
According to reports, Arteta’s remarks don’t seem to have flagrantly broken the regulations against making an unduly personal attack or casting doubt on the integrity of authorities.
Professional Game Match Officials Ltd. has been informed by Arsenal that their statement was a reaction to multiple errors, not simply the ones that occurred in the Newcastle United match.
On Saturday, Arsenal fell to Newcastle 1-0 at St. James’ Park, but the match featured two significant VAR calls.
current news and updates on Arsenal’s injuries
The first occurred when Bruno Guimaraes struck Jorginho in the head without being punished, and the second occurred when Newcastle’s goal was upheld in spite of numerous arguments against it.
“We have to talk about the result because you have to talk about how they help these goals stand up, and it’s incredible,” Arteta said following the game, expressing his obvious displeasure. I’m ashamed of myself.
“However, I must now be the one to come here and attempt to defend the club, and kindly request assistance, since it is a complete shame that this goal is permitted.
It’s not a goal because it’s not a goal for a variety of reasons, or at least not for just one reason.
We work so hard, there’s so much on the line, and competing at this level is so challenging. And it’s a complete shame.
“Once more, I’m ashamed. I’ve lived in this nation for more than 20 years, and this is by no means the greatest league in the world.” I apologize.
The comments clearly display Arteta’s anger at the situation, but it’s hard to point to anything that questions the integrity of the officials, and the manager clearly doesn’t go after any specific official.
Arteta isn’t specifically blaming the referee, or one of the assistants, or the VAR team. It’s the whole process that led to a goal being awarded that’s the problem.
Given that context, it’s not too surprising Arteta is seemingly avoiding a ban.
If you got banned simply for complaining about a call against your team, most managers would be out of action most weeks.

Arsenal could sign one of the “biggest jewels” in £30m partner for Rice
Mikel Arteta could be lining up his options to bolster his midfield in January, according to latest reports…
After finishing the previous season with a bang after their Premier League title challenge, Arsenal is off to a great start in the 2023–24 season under Mikel Arteta.
Although the Gunners would be disappointed not to win the league after dominating for so long in the previous season, it was clear that the team had improved under the boss.
Despite sitting in fourth and only three points off the summit of the table, there have already been glaring comparisons to the club’s weaknesses last campaign, as lack of squad depth has hit Arsenal early.
From injury woes to lack of performance, Arteta has some questions to answer with reference to the Gunners’ recent dip in form, which has entailed some rotation to the favoured XI.
Luckily for the Spaniard, the January transfer window is looming, and with the chance to welcome reinforcements in the winter, the north Londoners could finally identify the personnel needed to help them close in on their first league title in almost 20 years.
Arsenal’s January transfer targets
Placing the recurring theme of a need for a clinical striker aside, another area that is likely to be bolstered in January is the midfield.
Even though Arteta and Edu paid a club record £105 million to recruit Declan Rice in the summer, they may still try to bolster the engine room, especially in light of the circulating rumors about Thomas Partey’s future.
Aurelien Tchouameni, an enforcer for Real Madrid, was one player who was boldly mentioned as a possible target. According to Football Transfers, he is the Gunners’ top target for 2024.
With a market value of €100m (£87m), the Frenchman would be a blockbuster signing for Arteta to acquire, however, the probability of a move of that stature coming in January could prove to be financially difficult.
