An ex-youth player for Liverpool who previously had to apologize for using 5000 pence to pay a little fine while playing in
the Football League has now returned to the top division.
After excelling in the lower league, where he previously made headlines while paying a fine, Lawrence Vigouroux has
returned to the Premier League.
The goalkeeper, a former youth international for Chile, has agreed to a three-year contract with Burnley after winning three
straight player of the year awards at Leyton Orient.
A year after leaving Swindon, where he had been on loan from Liverpool before it was made permanent, he started playing
for Orient. Despite doing well on the field at The County Ground, he ran afoul with manager Mark Cooper.
After attempting to pay a £50 fine with 5000 pence, he was transported back to Liverpool to explain his activities.
An ex-Liverpool player who cost £15 million is preparing for the season with a National League team.
The offense was initially merely called “an individual indiscretion” before Cooper told the Liverpool Echo that Lawrence will
return since he was “very humble and very apologetic.”
“He has been in the locker room after the game and apologized to the players. He realizes his behavior was inappropriate.
They all responded “yes” when he asked them if they wanted him back. As a talented young goalie, Lawrence should take this
opportunity to learn from his small error because it will advance his career.
The 29-year-old goalkeeper participated in 45 of Orient’s 46 domestic games and helped the team earn promotion from
League Two last season.
Prior to joining Liverpool, Vigouroux had previously played for Tottenham. However, he permanently left the Reds in 2016
and went on to play 143 league games for Orient.
He posted on Instagram after signing with the newly promoted team of Vincent Kompany, saying: “Absolutely happy to have
signed for @burnleyofficial thank you for the messages. Time to get to work now.
Having told the club website: “It’s amazing to be here! Unbelievable training ground to be a part of. Really happy to be here.
“You only have to look around where we’re working and training every day. This was the right step and the right way to go.
Hopefully I can leave an impression here.
The style of play from last season. You could see from last season they have a really progressive style of play that I want to be
a part of.”
