BREAKING NEWS: Eagles attack Chiefs’ Super Bowl-winning locker room in search of…
After getting dominated 32-9 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round, the Philadelphia Eagles will be looking to make some upgrades over the offseason. Everyone has their theories about who should be added as one of those upgrades. One main area where the Eagles will be looking to improve is the secondary, and one potential target in that area could be Kansas City Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, as suggested by ESPN’s Matt Bowen.
Bowen was asked to name one move he’d like to see over the offseason, and here’s what he had to say:
“CB L’Jarius Sneed signs with the Eagles. Upgrading the cornerback position is an offseason priority in Philadelphia. With Sneed, the Eagles land one of the top veteran free agents, who has the coverage skills and ability to produce in Vic Fangio’s system.”
Philadelphia definitely needs a lot of help in the secondary under new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. Sneed could potentially be an excellent addition.
Here’s some background on L’Jarius Sneed as he’s being connected to the Eagles more often lately.
The Chiefs selected Sneed in the fourth round (138th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft. In the four seasons since, he has compiled 303 tackles, 40 deflections, 10 interceptions and two Super Bowl rings.
In the AFC Championship game this year, he forced a fumble from Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers in the fourth quarter, and Kansas City recovered. That play helped to preserve the victory and send the Chiefs to their second straight Super Bowl appearance.
The Eagles could certainly use some of that big-play potential at the cornerback position. Plus, at 27 years old, Sneed should still have several good years of football ahead of him.
Ultimately though, the Eagles won’t be the only team interested in Sneed’s services, and Sneed won’t be the only cornerback available. So, a union between the two is far from a guarantee. It makes sense on paper though, so we’ll just have to wait and see if the Eagles decided to go in that direction.
