In August, Gomez finished a $11 million transfer from RSC Anderlecht, where the Spain U21 international played under former Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany, who arrived from Borussia Dortmund. Kompany had moved from RSC Anderlecht.

In 23 games across all leagues, the left-back made his Premier League debut in a 4-2 victory over Crystal Palace.
Gomez was dramatically dismissed after a goalless draw with FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League. Gomez also played during the 6-3 demolition of Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium in October.

The Spaniard also started the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley Stadium against Sheffield United, and concluded his debut campaign in England with three pieces of silverware; including a Champions League winners medal.

As the Burnley manager is apparently keen in bringing the 22-year-old to Turf Moor, the childhood Blue, who idolized David Silva and took on the famous midfielder’s shirt number upon joining Manchester City, might be reunited with Vincent Kompany this summer.

According to Belgian writer Sacha Tavolieri, Burnley has contacted Manchester City about a loan transfer for the left-back because Komapny ‘likes’ the Spain U21 international.

On Friday, August 11, City will meet Burnley in the first match of their quest to win the Premier League for a fourth straight season. Should Gomez transfer to Turf Moor, the left-back would be ineligible to face City.

Kompany was lacking a crucial defender. Taylor Harwood-Bellis for Burnley’s trip to the Emirates’ Etihad StadiumBecause the center defender was on loan from Manchester City last season, the team lost in the FA Cup quarterfinals.

A temporary switch from Manchester to Lancashire isn’t however guaranteed, as Tavolieri claims that Gomez currently prefers to remain at the Etihad Stadium, with aspirations to try to impress Pep Guardiola during pre-season.

Manchester City are due to travel to Asia for pre-season, with friendlies scheduled against both Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid, during trips to South Korea and Japan.
