Burnley allegedly plans to sign a new striker during the summer transfer window after returning to the
Premier League.
The Clarets have reportedly shown interest in a few strikers, notably Sheraldo Becker of Union Berlin
and Boulaye Dia of Salernitana.
David Okereke of the US Cremonese team has been added to Burnley’s list of targets. TuttoMercatoWeb
claims that the English club “likes” the 25-year-old and has “targeted” him to strengthen their assault for
the upcoming season.
Despite having a contract with them through 2025, the Italian club was demoted from Serie A last
season, which, according to the article, makes it “difficult” for the star to extend his stay.
Vincent Kompany should be pleased with this, and it will support any real effort. The sum required to
persuade Cremonese to approve the player’s sale is not mentioned by TMW.
Okereke was primarily employed as a center forward last season, though he also saw time on the wings.
In 38 games, he made nine goals and recorded three assists.

The Clarets make their top flight return on Friday, August 11 when they host reigning
champions Manchester City at Turf Moor.
It comes after Vincent Kompany’s men took the Championship by storm last season, amassing 101
points and losing just three games.
Although moving to the Premier League is a major step, Jackson, who previously served as the team’s
temporary manager after Sean Dyche left, believes the Clarets have “earned the right” to return to the
top flight.
“Do I believe we’ll shock City (on the first day)? I’m not sure. You’re discussing perhaps the top club in
the world right now, he told Sky Sports.
“It’s a privilege to be in this league but you can’t see it as just making up the numbers, you’ve earned the
right to be there.
“We’ve got to improve, get better and develop while we’re in it. There will be days where it will be up and
down but the Premier League is like that.”
“We’ve worked so hard to get to this stage,” the former manager of Tranmere Rovers and Shrewsbury
Town continued.
“You now need to be excited and see this as an opportunity. Everyone is aware that we are moving up to
a higher standard, but what matters is developing your strengths and understanding that you will
occasionally experience failure.
“However, what do you do now? We are attempting to get ready for that.
