BREAKING NEWS: BURNLEY CLOSING IN OF 24 YEAR OLD WEST BROM STAR.

The 24 year old star is the Baggies’ vice-captain but he looks set for a move to the Premier League with the Clarets.

Due to urgent financial concerns, West Bromwich Albion supporters have been a little worried about what this summer might hold for the team.

The Baggies will need to find other sources of income since its Chinese owner Lai Guochuan appears to be missing, a £20 million loan was obtained to help with Albion’s operating expenses last season, and parachute payments are no longer made.

Just a week after the transfer season officially opened, West Brom are ready to lose their first important player of the summer as they fight to keep the club’s finances steady. This includes selling first-team players in an effort to balance the books.

Vice-captain Dara O’Shea set for a move to Premier League outfit Burnley, who romped to the Championship title last season with 101 points.

That is according to Sky Sports, who claim the two clubs are in advanced negotiations for the Republic of Ireland international centre-back, and a medical could take place as soon as Thursday.

O’Shea played 37 times for the Baggies last season in the Championship and captained the side when Jake Livermore was not playing, but he’s poised to move on to pastures new at Turf Moor should a fee be agreed for his services.

This isn’t the first time that the Clarets have been keen on the 24-year-old, with FLW exclusively revealing last summer that Vincent Kompany was keen to add O’Shea to his squad, but ultimately other targets ended up being signed.

What is going on with Dara O’Shea at West Brom?
O’Shea transferred from St. Kevin’s Boys in Ireland to West Brom at the age of 16, joining their academy program.

After spending the previous season on loan in League Two with Exeter City, he was given his club debut in December 2019 at the age of 20, and he went on to solidify his spot in the starting 11 by playing 28 times in the Premier League the following season (2020–21).

O’Shea’s original contract was set to expire in 2023, but he just signed a new one that runs through June 2025, giving him two more seasons at The Hawthorns before he can leave on his own.

But it appears that West Brom are now set to cash in on the 19-cap international when the two parties can agree an acceptable fee for O’Shea’s services.

Dara O’Shea to Burnley transfer would raise big questions over three players

The West Brom defender is reportedly a transfer target for Burnley and Vincent Kompany

Dara O’Shea, a defender for West Bromwich Albion, has been linked with a move to Burnley.

The international for the Republic of Ireland has recovered from a knee injury and is apparently in advanced negotiations with the Clarets. Due to financial issues, the Baggies must sell players this summer, and O’Shea is one of the team’s best assets. He has played more than 100 games for Albion and is now under contract till 2025.

A move for O’Shea would be an exciting piece of business for the Championship title winners from last season, with reports of a medical coming as soon as Thursday. In his first season in charge of Burnley, Kompany used a back four, and O’Shea would expand his choices for the center of defense.

Burnley are reportedly in talks to sign West Bromwich Albion defender Dara O’Shea – a player Carlos Corberan believes can thrive in the Premier League.

It’s being reported that the Clarets are keen on O’Shea, following their title-winning season in the Championship. Talks are claimed to be at an ‘advanced’ stage, with a medical potentially taking place as early as Thursday. Albion are no longer receiving parachute payments and their financial struggles mean that players need to be sold this summer.

O’Shea – who is under contract until 2025 having signed fresh terms last summer – has made more than 100 appearances for West Brom after graduating from the academy. The Republic of Ireland international missed the final six weeks of the Championship season due to a knee injury, but returned to action for his country this week.

Corberan, who took over at The Hawthorns in October 2022, spoke of his belief in O’Shea earlier this year. The defender has played in the Premier League before and it’s a level Corberan feels O’Shea is more than capable of operating at.

“For me he has been exceptional, I cannot have more positive words for a player than the words I have for him,” he said. “Not only in the games – he’s one player that never missed any training, he is one guy with a level of ambition that his character will help him make an amazing career, with no doubts.

“He competes always with one level, one exceptional level since I arrived at the club in every single game. This is not easy to do in the football world, sometimes when you play many games in a row you can lose the concentration or the desire, or fatigue can maybe beat the level of motivation and energy.

“But in any case, this has not happened with him, he has a level of desire to play, improve, to listen and be a better player and that’s why I know he will play in the highest level of football. He has done, and he will again.”
