After receiving official confirmation that they will be joining from West Bromwich Albion and Swindon Town, respectively,
Dara O’Shea and Lawrence Vigoroux, Kompany’s Clarets squad is slowly but definitely beginning to take shape.

Of course, there is still work to be done. A new goalkeeper is still needed, and Royal Antwerp’s Jean Butez is the current
objective. Burnley is apparently first in line to acquire £17 million Metz thief Georges Mikautadze, thus a successor for last
season’s leading scorer Nathan Tella may also be necessary.
Again, Kompany might benefit from his contacts in Belgium as Burnley looks to sign a player who was once thought of as the
best of the new Rote Duivels generation.
Aster Vranckx may be on his way to Burnley
A former Liverpool and Manchester City target, Aster Vranckx’s reputation is not quite what it was back in 2020 – especially
after flopping on loan at AC Milan last term – but he remains a player of vast ability and potential at the age of just 20.
L’Equipe claims that Burnley is now providing the player owned by Wolfsburg with a fresh start. The Turf Moor organization
has made a £10 million offer, without bonuses. Given that the Bundesliga team was willing to allow Vranckx to permanently
join AC Milan for the same price, that might be enough to exert some pressure on Wolfsburg.
Vranckx was compared to former Burnley favorite Steven Defour during his formative years at KV Mechelen; he was
reportedly also coveted by Fulham and Crystal Palace.
“100 per cent (Vranckx can be better than Defour). Or so I hope,” former team-mate Igor de Camargo said at the time.
“(He has) mentality, commitment, and certainly football ability). He has it all to play in the Premier League or Bundesliga. Physically he is almost ready.
“Defour was not at that age.”
