BREAKING NEWS: BRIGHTON TALENTED STAR HAS FINALLY….

In sagas that nobody asked for but are being given plenty of, it seems Brighton and Hove Albion goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen has won the right to be the Netherlands’ number one.

That’s at least according to De Telegraaf, relayed by Soccer News, who say it will be the Brighton goalkeeper who will start against France and perhaps Greece after that.

The Dutch are having something of a goalkeeping crisis at this moment in time, with Ronald Koeman yet to decide who will be his first choice moving forwards.

He’s been bouncing between several options, with the Brighton man one of those alongside Brentford’s Mark Flekken.According to journalist Valentijn Driessen, the Brighton man should be in line for his debut if one plus one equals two for Koeman. In other words, he’s the logical answer. That’s despite the youngster having made only 29 senior appearances to date at club level as rival Andries Noppert is ‘hopelessly out of form’ and Nick Olij is new to the international set up.

It’s a chance for the youngster to stake his claim, having already insisted during the last international break that he was good enough and didn’t need an older goalkeeper to learn from.

That opportunity has now been presented to him and, hopefully, this little saga is now at an end.
